Journalist Christiane Amanpour has never been accused of being objective on issues regarding Israel and “Palestine,” but even for her, Wednesday’s Amanpour program on CNN International (and also available online to everyone here) was a packed cornucopia of unchallenged lies about "genocide" and land theft from the Israel-loathing angle. Amanpour led the program with two participants of a biased documentary from Gaza, American Doctor.
Amanpour: ….let me just start by asking you both what your feelings are about what we've just been talking about, increased and constant attacks on health care workers in the West Bank and also in Gaza against civilians….
Mark Perlmutter, subject, “American Doctor”: “I personally think that this is part of the Israeli government's, quote, "final solution," close quote, for the Palestinian. You know, the Zionist government of Israel is simply boiling down to, I want their land and I'm willing to kill their children to get it. Killing the press, and I've had press reporters that I've operated on there for high velocity gunshot wounds that were deliberately targeted by snipers. The absolute deliberate killing of children….This is all part of the genocide. It's an orchestrated, well-planned, three-dimensional chess game to our checkers about how to destroy a population of people simply so they can have their land.
The host offered one hesitant little quibble with Perlmutter’s inflammatory hallucinations about the perfidy of Israel.
Amanpour: ….Mark, I need to ask you, you are American and you're Jewish and you have used words like final solution, genocide, that go back to what happened to the Jews. How difficult is it and how concerned are you or aware are you of the specific language that you're using in this case?....
Perlmutter unleashed an upside-down reading of history making Jews the historically violent aggressors and Palestinians the victimized party, ignoring centuries of history to make everything the fault of one tiny country surrounded by enemies (has he ever seen a map of the region?) Somehow, it's phony, this "image of Muslims as terrorists." Only the Jews are "the real terrorists."
Perlmutter: Well, first of all, I'm agnostic. I have Jewish heritage, but I don't think -- and this has never been a Jew versus Muslim conflict, not since 1948 during the years of the Nakba and ever since. I meant what I said, there's never been a ceasefire. They've only been facades orchestrated by Israel while they confined Gazans to an open-air prison. What's going on, which you've just reported on in the West Bank, has always been going on in Gaza. This is simply just a simple land grab. It has never been a Jew versus Muslim event. Israel has painted it that way. They have created the image of Muslims as terrorists. When the real terrorists, if you study history, has always been the militant forces in Israel supported by the militant forces in our government.

Discussion moved on to the Nasser Hospital in Gaza, struck by Israel, and a sad story about a young patient killed by an Israeli bomb.
Left out: Hamas’s use of the Nasser hospital as a torture site, according to the Israeli military and Shin Bet: “Hamas exploits the hospital as a center of governance unrelated to its medical function, for the purposes of interrogations, torture, and collecting money.” But don’t expect an Amanpour follow-up on those allegations.
Amanpour gave Perlmutter unchallenged space to describe his evolution to an activist and tell more anti-Israel whoppers.
Perlmutter: ….I realized finally on the way out of Gaza, there was a line of trucks that was 31 or so miles long, eight trucks aside, these are 18-wheelers, filled with rotting food and dead animals that were being brought in for a food supply, and none of them were coming into the then-still-open Rafah border. 36 miles, 31 miles of trucks, eight abreast, is enough to surround Gaza three to five times with trucks of supplies that Israel was not letting in….
So....31 miles of trucks, eight abreast? Really? Perlmutter is evidently the only one out there making that outlandish claim. But as usual, Amanpour let all the anti-Israel lies go unchallenged.
CAMERA reported on a July 2024 interview by Amanpour with that same duo, and the same lies.
Perlmutter uses his Jewish connection – a Jewish father and surname – to feign expertise on Judaism and endorse tropes that are generally associated with the most vicious, antisemitic circles....
