Protesting emeritus Prof. Marvin Dunn joined Thursday’s Jose Diaz-Balart Reports on MSNBC to discuss his opposition to Florida’s new history standards on slavery. During his rantings, Dunn argued that one of the experts who wrote the standards is an anti-Semite who once thanked God for slavery.
There was just one problem: that woman opposes the standards and is an elected Democrat.
After Diaz-Balart asked what he would change, Dunn began by attacking those who wrote the standards and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, “Well, one thing they need to do is revisit the standards. And not by the group of clowns that did this in the first place. The people that DeSantis is listening to, these black scholars that he claims he's listening to, these are Clarence Thomas-type extreme Republican blacks who are feeding these things to the governor.”
Dunn tried to give an example, “One of these people, one of these scholars that DeSantis is relying upon says she is grateful for slavery, she could be in Africa in some place worshipping a tree. She says Jews own everything.”
The comments come from State Rep. Kimberly Daniels, a Democrat from Jacksonville. She stated in reference to Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign, “And let me say this to you -- I thank God for slavery. I thank God for the crack house. If it wasn't for the crack house ... God [would never have been able] to use me [as] he can use me now. And if it wasn't for slavery, I might be somewhere in Africa, worshipping a tree.”
Daniels also declared, “And you can talk about the Holocaust, but the Jews own everything. We go through some things, but let me tell you something -- when you go through, you qualify to get paid back. You don't need the government to give it back, God will give it back.”
Not only is Daniels a Democrat, she opposes the standards. From the Jacksonville Florida-Times Union, “State Rep. Kimberly Daniels says the new Black history standards for Florida public school students are wrong to say slavery resulted in any benefits for those enslaved, and she will use her seat on the state African American History Task Force to fight against that message going to classrooms.”
Not only did MSNBC bring on Dunn to smear Clarence Thomas and others as clowns and not only did they falsely imply Florida says blacks should be grateful for slavery, they couldn’t even be bothered to get an elected politician’s party identification right because they just assumed someone who said something anti-Semitic was a Republican. Diaz-Balart would not issue a correction at any point during the remainder of the show.

JOSE DIAZ-BALART: So, what changes are you asking for?
MARVIN DUNN: Well, one thing they need to do is revisit the standards. And not by the group of clowns that did this in the first place. The people that DeSantis is listening to, these black scholars that he claims he's listening to, these are Clarence Thomas-type extreme Republican blacks who are feeding these things to the governor. One of these people, one of these scholars that DeSantis is relying upon says she is grateful for slavery, she could be in Africa in some place worshipping a tree. She says Jews own everything.
These are people that DeSantis is listening to. Another one of his experts says slavery must be taught, all sides of slavery must be taught. All sides? I thought we settled this in 1865.
