Jimmy Kimmel Pushes Wild Conspiracy: ‘Will Trump Postpone Election?’

March 27th, 2020 1:17 PM

There is rarely a time when Trump trashing comes to a halt on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. The leftist host has continued to stoke animus towards the President throughout the coronavirus crisis, most recently on Thursday night’s “minilogue” during an interview with former Vice President and 2020 Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden. Kimmel even pushed a wild conspiracy theory about “postponing the 2020 election.

In a move that signified Kimmel’s ignorance of governmental procedures, he nervously wondered; “Is it possible that Trump could postpone the presidential election?” While Biden assured Kimmel rescheduling the election is not within the scope of presidential power, that did not deter him from accusing Trump of trying to anyway:

No, he doesn’t have the authority to do that. Now, it is possible that he may start a drumbeat saying it should be postponed. But you know, Jon Meacham, who has become a friend who is a historian, pointed out, we are in a position where we have had elections in the middle of civil war during the Civil War...

Kimmel then slung a barb Trump's way as he asked; “Do you think Trump will debate you or do you think he will try to dodge?”

To which Biden responded; “I don’t know. I hope we debate, I’m looking forward to that.”

Kimmel inquired as to whether the former Vice President has attempted to reach President Trump to pass along advice on how to combat the pandemic. Following Biden’s affirmative answer and request that the Defense Production Act be implemented, Kimmel huffed: "Why wouldn’t he put that into action? Why wouldn’t he get businesses going making masks and then gloves and whatever we need right now?"

Seeing as President Trump is always the scoundrel in late night eyes, Kimmel concluded: "Maybe, you know, there is a part of him that when someone who he considers to be an opponent says something, he has to do the opposite. It could be as simple and childish as that."

Other than filming from the comfort of his own home, not much has changed in Kimmel’s world it seems.A transcript is below. Click "expand" to read more.

JIMMY KIMMEL: Why wouldn’t he put that into action? Why wouldn’t he get businesses going making masks and then gloves and whatever we need right now?

JOE BIDEN: Honest to God Jimmy I don’t know, because I thought that, you know, he’s got that power. He said he was going to be a wartime Commander in Chief during this period, but he hasn’t done what is just rational to do it seems to me…

KIMMEL: Maybe, you know, there is a part of him that when someone who he considers to be an opponent says something, he has to do the opposite. It could be as simple and childish as that.

KIMMEL: I make no secret of the fact that I hope he is signing up for unemployment come November.

KIMMEL: Is it possible that Trump could postpone the presidential election?

BIDEN: No, he doesn’t have the authority to do that. Now, it is possible that he may start a drumbeat saying it should be postponed. But you know, Jon Meacham, who has become a friend who is a historian pointed out, we are in a position where we have had elections in the middle of civil war during the Civil War. During World War I, World War II, what happened with the virus in 1970- we’ve never- Democracy and dealing with this crisis have to be done at the same time. And what I think you’re going to see more of Jimmy- is I think you are going to see more of what Amy Klobachar has been proposing, that is being able to vote early in your areas and by mail. I think we are going to see more of that happening as well.
