The same anchors whose jugular veins popped at the mere mention of Trump's border wall are now pleased to report that Biden has ordered the completion of an unfinished section of the wall near Yuma, Arizona, in order to protect the migrants “who could be injured by slipping on a slope, or also lose their lives by drowning.” You read that correctly.
Forget the endless primetime news coverage loaded with telenovela-like reports, or endless coverage of AOC and her fellow Squad members performatively crying at the gates of a detention facility. The completion of sections of the wall “where there are four corridors through which transit the largest number of undocumented immigrants seeking to reach U.S. soil” is no longer mean, anti-immigrant policy, but proof evident of the pro-migrant benevolence and compassion of Joe Biden.

CAROLINA SARASSA: Meanwhile, the Biden Administration has authorized the completion of the border wall between the United States and Mexico in an area of southern Arizona, very close to Yuma, where there are four corridors through which transit the largest number of undocumented immigrants seeking to reach U.S. soil. The Department of Homeland Security says it seeks to complete the project near the Morelos Dam, in order to protect migrants who might be injured by slipping on a slope, or also lose their lives by drowning.
Four years ago, any report about border wall construction would’ve been framed with the usual “anti-immigrant” labeling reserved for anything or anyone advancing border enforcement. Not anymore!
It is just amazing to watch the Latino networks bend over backwards to push White House talking points. As recently as last week, the corporate media was complaining about the spike in fatalities along the border for which they directly blame Trump; he was the one who built the Machiavellian barrier in the first place! Now, the once-awful wall is a life-saving measure!
FYI, Homeland Security reported that from January through June, 2021, 1.7 million undocumented immigrants had crossed into the United States through the southern border. In addition, since Joe Biden took office in January 2021, more than 1,000 fatalities have occurred along the U.S.-Mexico border.
But hey, now the border wall rocks. What changed? Not the wall, not the migrants, not the deaths, not the drownings, not the injuries, not Trump: The only thing that has changed is that now the White House says that the wall is humane, safe, and good for the migrants.
No doubt that while the anchors at Univision deliver this kind of news straight faced, the receivers cringe in disbelief at the obvious bias.
