It turns out that the same immigration activists advocating for open border policies and amnesty are now giving a cold shoulder to the fleeing Ukrainians receiving Title 42 waivers as war refugees, and now accuse the government of racism while being blatantly racist themselves, as shown in a Telemundo report about the ongoing chaos at the southern border.
Reporter Francisco Fajardo echoed the spitefulness of the activists and migrants at the border, by saying that Ukrainians are “being processed every day in front of families from countries like Guatemala and Honduras who have been waiting for more than a year”, following the announcement of new rules that allow immigration officials, not just judges, to decide whether a migrant remains in the country or is deported:

JOHANA SUAREZ: And the Biden administration announced new rules that seek to speed up the asylum process. The changes now allow immigration officials, not just judges, to decide whether a migrant remains in the country or is deported
FRANCISCO FAJARDO: The new rule is announced as Ukrainian families seeking asylum are excluded from Title 42 and processed every day in front of families from countries like Guatemala and Honduras who have been waiting for more than a year.
DULCE GARCÍA, ACTIVIST: The system as it stands today is still a racist system that gives preference to migrants from certain countries
FAJARDO: But the government defends itself by claiming that the situation of refugees from Ukraine is unique because they are fleeing a war.
XAVIER BECERRA, SEC. OF HHS: You have to qualify to enter into this country.
Dulce García, president of the San Diego Immigrant Rights Consortium, argued that the system “as it stands today, is still a racist system that gives preference to migrants from certain countries”. Is her concern actually about skin color (racist!) or is it about the fact that this group of migrants won´t be calling on the immigration activist-lawyer-services network?
Per the White House, Biden will allow 100,000 Ukrainians to legally enter the United States. Meanwhile, the latest U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) report found that at the southern border alone, this year, as of March 3rd, they have encountered 554,418 single adults from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador and other unspecified countries; plus 189,717 family unit apprehensions and 58,503 unaccompanied minors from those same countries of origin. 802,638 migrants of all colors and nations, a large number from Central and South America, in just 90 days.
In defending the decision to exclude the Ukrainian war refugees from Title 42, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra told Telemundo that "you have to qualify to enter this country." That's going to sting.
