On Wednesday morning, the crew at Univision's Despierta América made a desperate call to Senate Democrats to ignore Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough, and pass the so-called "Plan C" for Immigration Reform in the "infrastructure" reconciliation package.
“Our community does not want to settle, and is demanding that Democrats finally push, ignore (the Senate parliamentarian), and include immigration in the reconciliation package,” said Washington correspondent Edwin Pitti, reporting live from D.C. where the usual activists and progressive politicians were out protesting.
Take a look at this textbook example of biased reporting that grants viewers only one side of the story- the side that conforms to the network's corporate interests:
What does Plan C include? Let us remember, as we've stated extensively here on Despierta America: protections against deportation for (a period of) 10 years, a driver's license, as well as alleged access to a federal healthcare program that may benefit them, among other items, but the main thing is that that (Plan C) does not include a pathway to citizenship, hence the protests. Our community does not want to settle, and is demanding that Democrats finally push, ignore (the Senate parliamentarian), and include immigration in the reconciliation package.
No deportations, free healthcare, and citizenship: it's payback time and those who were awaiting the Promised Land in exchange for their votes are now tired of waiting. Reciting what adds up to the liberal network's oft-repeated wish list to ensure them a steady audience – see here and here - Pitti twice echoed the progressives' demand to bypass the parliamentarian. The correspondent however, failed to explain how voting actually works in Congress.
Unvision did let on that “the debate is expected to begin on December 14th. And the fact that it is on the same week that Congress goes into its year-end recess, that means that it is very unlikely that this plan will be approved before the end of the year."

8:06 a.m. EasternSATCHA PRETTO: This morning I report to you that there is uncertainty about the future of the so-called Plan C, which would benefit millions of undocumented immigrants. The Democratic proposal is in the hands of Senate legal counsel Elizabeth MacDonough. Outside the Capitol, activists are demanding its inclusion in the budget reconciliation package, and that it be brought to a vote before the end of this year. Edwin Pitti is live from Washington, DC, to tell us about it. Edwin, good morning.
EDWIN PITTI: Good morning Satcha. I can tell you that there are countless protests that in recent months, pro-immigrant groups have taken to the grounds of the Capitol to make the same demand to the Democratic leaders in the Senate. And that is, that they totally ignore the recommendation of the parliamentarian, who is the main legal advisor in the Senate, so that there is finally an immigration reform and the immigration issue can be included in the reconciliation package.
However, the situation is now quite complicated because the so-called “Plan C” that the Democrats have presented to the Congress is still on hold. She could make her decision known at any moment, and the fact that she is taking her time may mean that she recommends changes before giving it a green light. What does Plan C include? Let us remember, as we´ve stated extensively here on Despierta America: protections against deportation for (a period of) 10 years, a driver's license, as well as alleged access to a federal healthcare program that may benefit them, among other items, but the main thing is that that (Plan C) does not include a pathway to citizenship, hence the protests. Our community does not want to settle, and is demanding that Democrats finally push, ignore (the Senate parliamentarian), and include immigration in the reconciliation package. Satcha.
PRETTO: Good. And if this is the case, Edwin, when would this debate to include this immigration offer begin?
PITTI: That’s the complicated part Satcha, because the fact that the parliamentarian has not yet voiced her position on the matter- that is somehow pausing the negotiation. However, the debate is expected to begin on December 14th. And the fact that it is on the same week that Congress goes into its year-end recess, that means that it is very unlikely that this plan will be passed before the end of the year. Reporting live from Washington, I return to you Satcha, and before returning I steal three seconds to congratulate all the mothers in my Panama who today celebrate their day, and all are faithful viewers of Despierta America. Back to you Satcha.
PRETTO: Yes. A big hug to all those Panamanian mommies who tune us in. Thank you Edwin Pitti for providing us with these details from Washington, DC.
