Univision Uses Day Care Crisis to Advocate for Dems' $3.5T Wish List

October 25th, 2021 2:56 PM

President Biden´s $3.5 trillion ´economic agenda´ - and the Democrat left- got a major push at Univision´s Despierta America, in a textbook storytelling report that revealed unfiltered political activism disguised as concern for the wellbeing of Hispanic families.

Watch as anchor Satcha Pretto´s report -supposedly about childcare workers having to resign because of low salaries- quickly morphs into a political hit-piece with the required offended Latina congresswoman calling for justice, and Washington, DC correspondent Edwin Pitti pointing the finger at the real trouble makers: Republicans and Centrist Democrats who are going to "be a serious problem" in terms of passing the so-called "social infrastructure" monstrosity:

SATCHA PRETTO: And at this hour, the uncertainty about child care grows across the country. More and more nurseries are closing and for many families this is a vicious circle, because the service these institutions offer is key for parents having their own jobs.

EDWIN PITTI: The problem of access to child care across the country is becoming increasingly severe.

The industry has seen a decline of over 125,000 workers, and since June alone 10,000 more have left. The reason: the lack of good wages.

Four out of five children's centers are currently understaffed, and they are gradually being forced to close their doors: the most serious problem...

VERÓNICA ESCOBAR (D) TEXAS: It's that our women, our moms, can't find work because, they just, because they don't have child care.

PITTI: Satcha, precisely in the last hours President Joe Biden met with congressional leaders at his home in Delaware to discuss precisely the part of his economic agenda that includes billions of dollars for child care. However, he continues to face many obstacles not only from Republicans, but also from centrist Democrats, and this would be a serious problem, because at the end of the day the most affected are the African-American and Hispanic communities.

That healthcare personnel “work to remain at poverty levels”; that parents have trouble finding where to leave their their kids so they can go to work; that, therefore, some parents can´t work; those troubling issues were just narrative-building devices at Despierta America. Not mentioned was that daycares suffered as a result of shutdown policies. The real purpose of this propaganda piece was to endorse the citizenship of millions of undocumented Spanish-speaking immigrants via Biden´s behemoth “economic agenda”, thus ensuring the network´s long-term survival. Everything else was fluff.

SATCHA PRETTO: And at this hour, the uncertainty about child care grows across the country. More and more nurseries are closing and for many families this is a vicious circle, because the service these institutions offer is key for parents having their own jobs. We go to Washington, DC, with Edwin Pitti to tell us what is creating this crisis. Tell us Edwin.

EDWIN PITTI: That's right, Satcha. Good morning. The main problem is wages; I can tell you that since the pandemic began, over 100,000 people who work in the childcare industry have left because they are paid much more in restaurants, gas stations and even at stores where marijuana is sold.

The problem of access to child care across the country is becoming increasingly severe. The  woman who runs this nursery faces challenges she has never seen before.

LESLIE SPINA, DAY CARE CENTER ADMINISTRATOR: The first time in 27 years that we ́ve had...

PITTI: Leslie says that for the first time in 27 years she has the classrooms to take care of the children but not the staff. The industry has seen a decline of over 125,000 workers, and since June alone 10,000 more have left. The reason: the lack of good wages.

NANDY CROZIER, DAY CARE COORDINATOR: Who wants to come into...

PITTI: Who wants to come to this industry when you see that at a gas station you are going to be paid $15 to $17 an hour? And that's the challenge. Day care employees start out earning $10 to  $12 an hour which, experts say, amounts to working in order to continue living in poverty. According to the Department of the Treasury, parents pay about $10,000 a year for child care. Four out of five children's centers are currently understaffed, and they are gradually being forced to close their doors: the most serious problem...

VERÓNICA ESCOBAR (D) TEXAS: It's that our women, our moms, can't find work because, they just, because they don't have child care.

However, he continues to face many obstacles not only from Republicans, but also from centrist Democrats, and this would be a serious problem, because at the end of the day the most affected are the African-American and Hispanic communities. Live from Washington, I return to you at the studio, Satcha.

PRETTO: Thank you Edwin Pitti for giving us this information.
