California governor Gavin Newsom's new economic order seemed like a great idea to Telemundo anchor Felicidad Aveleyra, who wholeheartedly endorsed the upcoming restrictions as “necessary to save lives.” It's not the anchor's pocket that will feel the pinch of (again) losing a job and remaining restricted and completely isolated at home (the new order prohibits private gatherings of any size).
Newsom, who recently came under fire for attending a dinner party at a restaurant without wearing a mask or maintaining social distancing (after publicly urging his constituents to do so) said that the lockdown can take effect as soon as next week and as reporter Guadalupe Venegas added: “No one is happy with these changes, but they have to be made.”
Watch as Telemundo vouched for further bruising an already ailing economy and promoting unemployment over less drastic measures to help contain the spread of COVID-19:

This report – and the reporters as well – beg the questions: Does Telemundo even recognize the role of the massive number of homeless persons and drug addicts that plague the five regions included in the new order in the spread of COVID? Does Telemundo care about the spike in drug use, alcoholism, gender-based violence, suicides and other serious mental and financial problems related to lockdowns such as the one Newsom is imposing? Do they really care about anything other than parroting liberal talking-points and keeping valuable information from their audience just because it doesn't fit the script?
The answers are one and the same: NO.

Guadalupe Venegas is in Los Angeles with more information. How are you Guadalupe? What is the scope of this order, tell us?
GUADALUPE VENEGAS: How are you Felicidad? Well, so far everything was run by counties, but there are so many counties in California that that has made things very difficult. To give you an idea, in the Los Angeles area alone there are three counties where people have to be interacting. That's why the governor now determined that it will be five regions: Northern California, Southern California, the San Francisco Bay, the Sacramento area, and the San Joaquin Valley. This was the governor's announcement.
GAVIN NEWSOM: Regions where the ICU capacity is falling below 15%, we are now mandating, announcing that we are implementing a stay-at-home order for three weeks.
VENEGAS: This means that when intensive care units in hospitals in each region reach 85% (capacity), then restrictions will be implemented, these being a stay-at-home lockdown order, and people will have to follow the new rules. To give you an idea, this could happen this week or next in the regions. In California, you've seen an average of 15,000 infections per day. Yesterday it was 18,000 and people entering the intensive care unit over the last 14 days have increased by 67 percent. Now, what do the closures that would now close beauty salons, bars, personal care salons, museums, zoos, and cinemas mean? After this announcement was made from the governor, we talked to people to find out what their reaction was.
WOMAN: If this is to protect us, I think it's the right thing to do. But, there are also a lot of people that need their jobs, but without health you can't work.
MAN 1: I see that it's fine for everyone's sake, right, while the vaccine arrives to control this
MAN 2: Well this is going to get tougher, it’s going to take a while for them to open up and things to get better.
VENEGAS: That's the feeling: everyone is waiting for the vaccine and no one is happy with these changes, but they have to be made.
