UNews Omits ‘Good Guy With a Gun’ From Report on Oklahoma Walmart Shooting

November 18th, 2019 4:27 PM

Univision led off its Engligh-language newscast, UNews on Fusion, with a brief report on the shooting at Walmart in Duncan, Oklahoma. However, the network left off a critical element of the story; one that happens to be most inconvenient to its agenda.

Watch below as anchor Carolina Sarassa delivered the report that omitted what many other local and national outlets had reported by then: the confrontation of the shooter by an armed citizen:

We begin today with details on yet another shooting. This time, outside a Wal-Mart in Duncan, Oklahoma. The police chief says two men and a woman have been fatally shot. Authorities received a call, just before 10:00 A.M., about a shooting at that location. Local media reports say the shooter is among those dead. Duncan is about 80 miles south of Oklahoma City. Investigators have revealed no information about the victims or motive in this shooting.

The report lasted less than 30 seconds, and made no mention whatsoever of the fact that the shooter was confronted by an armed citizen. Per The Daily Mail:

A man shot and killed his estranged wife and her new boyfriend in a Walmart parking lot in Oklahoma before turning the gun on himself when an armed citizen intervened.

It is important to note that these details were known well before UNews's two-hour newscast went on the air at 1 PM Eastern. In fact, the video you saw above is from the 2 P.M. hour of the newscast. In other words, Univision had time and opportunity to do the right thing and report the fullness of the story, but chose not to do so.

Instrad, Univision chose to tie this shooting in with those in El Paso, Saugus, and Fresno. But this shooting is not convenient because it was ultimately ended by A Good Guy With A Gun. Therefore, it  is anathema to Univision’s gun-grabbing agenda, and had to be left off.
