Once again Telemundo conflates legal immigration with illegal immigration, and levels the seemingly all-purpose 'anti-immigrant' smear at anyone who dares advocate for the enforcement of our country's immigration laws. This time, the network did so by kicking Bill O'Reilly on his way out of Fox News.
Watch as anchor José Díaz-Balart personally levels the smear:
JOSE DIAZ-BALART: TELEMUNDO ANCHOR: ...the journalist, known for his conservative and anti-immigrant positions, will not return to the channel, following the publication in recent weeks of various accusations of sexual harassment that were made against him. O'Reilly was on vacation. Precisely today he was photographed shaking hands with Pope Francis in the Vatican.
O'Reilly was a fierce advocate for border security, including such tough, life-saving measures as Kate's Law. Yet, he was also an early (albeit reluctant) supporter of comprehensive immigration reform back in 2013, as were the top U.S. Spanish-language media networks. But that just goes to show you, that when it comes to border policy, it's all or nothing with the establishment Spanish-language media - you either support open borders, or you are labelled an 'anti-immigrant'. Hence, O'Reilly gets one last swift kick on the way out.
Successors, govern yourselves accordingly.
