Federalist Editor Locked Out of Twitter For Levine Comments

A senior editor at The Federalist was locked out of his Twitter account over the weekend after he called Rachel Levine a man.

According to The Federalist, Senior Editor John Daniel Davidson tweeted that Levine “is in fact a man” and was locked out of his account. Levine is a transgender woman who works for the Biden administration.

“They’re not even trying to hide it anymore,” Davidson wrote. “If you say that Rachel Levine is a man, they will come after you. Doesn’t matter that Levine is in fact a man. Truth is no defense.”

Less than 24 hours after the post, Davidson’s account was locked by the platform for 12 hours. He must delete the tweet to have his account restored. Davidson said he would not delete the tweet.

Another tweet from Davidson that referred to Levine as a man was flagged by Twitter and blocked in Germany after someone reported the tweet.

“In accordance with applicable law and our policies, Twitter is now withholding the above content in Germany,” the warning message from Twitter read.

“Apparently in Germany, you're not allowed to say on Twitter that Rachel Levine is a man,” Davidson tweeted with a screenshot of the warning.

Twitter faced controversy regarding its conduct with The Federalist just last week.

NewsBusters reported that Twitter relayed the following message to users who tried to access the publication’s content: “The link you are trying to access has been identified by Twitter or our partners as being potentially spammy or unsafe.” The warning added that the content could be “violent or misleading.”

The flag was quickly noticed.

“Twitter is currently censoring links to @FDRLST news stories, falsely claiming that our stories are 'violent or misleading content that could lead to real-world harm,'” Sean Davis, CEO and co-founder of The Federalist, tweeted. “Stories about KBJ, Ron DeSantis, Hunter Biden, and majolica art are all being maliciously censored by Twitter.”

Twitter also locked The Babylon Bee’s account for “hateful conduct” after it posted an article that joked that Levine was the site’s “Man of the Year.” Adam Ford, the founder of the publication, was also locked out of his account for “hateful conduct.”
