Orwellian Media Call for Firing of NBA Analyst Kevin McHale for Attending Trump Rally

Warped Orwellian media are demanding that former NBA great and current TNT basketball commentator Kevin McHale (at left in photo) lose his job because he attended President Donald Trump's rally in Duluth, Minn., this week. That's right: if you're a Trump supporter, you should not be allowed to work in media!

The hysteria over McHale, a longtime Boston Celtic great and current NBA analyst on TNT, prompted The Washington Examiner's Tom Joyce to ask: "Isn’t punishing someone for their opinions the very thoughtcrime that George Orwell’s 1984 warned about?" Spot on.

After the Minnesota rally, Trump-hating media spotted McHale's face in a crowd photo of people standing behind the president. Enraged media types then proved yet again that the pretense of tolerance is over. Not to mention the era of professionalism and objectivity. Leading the Orwellian charge was Nathaniel Freedman, a contributor for GQ magazine:

Henry Lake of Sports Radio 610 in Kansas City wants McHale's head, too:

Mason Ginsberg, ESPN True Hoop Network Writer, sarcastically equated McHale's support of Trump to racism: "BREAKING: Kevin McHale accepts head coaching gig in WNBA, only to quickly renege once he realized that it did not stand for 'White Nationalist Basketball Association.'”

Confusing Duluth, Minnesota for Duluth, Georgia, ESPN race-baiter Howard Bryant disqualified himself from a future in geography bees with the tweet:

"Kevin McHale is just a poor white man from a forgotten Deep South town suffering from economic anxiety. That explains it."

The Bleacher Report blogger Kevin Scaletta killed his future in spelling bees with this embarrassing post:

"Turmp is a flaming racist. Anyone who doesn't think he's a racist is a racist becuse they agree with his racism so deeply they can't see he's a racist."

Jen Statsky, a television writer and comedian known for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Parks and Recreation and Broad City, tweeted:

turns out James Harden was extremely correct when he called Kevin McHale a clown https://twitter.com/bushyt0p/status/1009634600057032709 …

Assassinating Kevin McHale's character didn't fill the ravenous appetite of this angry mob. They dragged Kevin's wife Lynn, an ardent Trump supporter, into the public square for a flogging as well. Stephen Crockett, of The Root, tore into Lynn for being "a Trump fangirl" who is "drinking the Trump Tampico" and "pushing the widely held conspiracy theory that it’s better to take children at the border because the majority of them are being held captive by sex traffickers."

Outkick The Coverage blogger Clay Travis did a great job of characterizing the would-be totalitarians engaged in Trump derangement syndrome:

"Social media is now filled with people following the lead of these deranged Tweeters and demanding that TNT keep Kevin McHale from ever announcing another NBA basketball game. This should be terrifying to anyone who believes in a robust and uninhibited (F)irst (A)mendment. Because what many are arguing here is that Kevin McHale doesn’t have the right to a private political opinion completely unconnected to his work life if it doesn’t comport with the opinions of the far left wing sports media."
