Texans want a probe of visionary entrepreneur Elon Musk because he lives in Texas, Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) told a town hall meeting on Monday.
Participating in a town hall sponsored by Our Revolution, an activist group founded by ultra-left Democratic Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Rep. Crockett listed investigation of Musk in her wish list for the state. Crockett accused the Musk of employing “gimmicks” when he headed the efforts of President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency to root out waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government.
In a rambling answer, Crockett twice cited Musk’s residence in her state as a reason for investigating him:
“I’d also say that, you know, considering the fact that Elon Musk is in Texas - you know! - we definitely, I personally feel like Texans are more invested in finding out, you know, what type of gimmicks Elon Musk did with his ‘DOGE’ project and our personal information.
“And obviously, this is a big issue for everyone – but, considering the fact that Elon is actually in Texas, I don’t know if I would just do it more because he is in central Texas or not, but I would say that a lot of people are concerned about what all he did.”

Musk’s primary residence is reportedly a modest home in Boca Chica, the location of SpaceX headquarters, a district in central Texas represented by Democrat Congressman Vicente Gonzalez - not Crockett. And, because she lost Tuesday’s Democrat primary to state Rep. James Talarico, she will not be her party’s candidate on November’s ballot for the state’s 30th congressional district office.
In addition to living in the state, Musk is also one of its largest employers. Combined, SpaceX and Gigafactory (which produces Tesla electric vehicles) have created more than 40,00 jobs in the state, either directly or indirectly. In all, Musk has a network of nearly 100 Texas-based entities, including The Boring Company and X.
DOGE has saved Americans an estimated $215 billion, more than $1,300 per taxpayer, to-date.
