Although he is frequently attacked by the mainstream media, Rush Limbaugh’s conservative radio show continues to flourish and maintain an audience of loyal followers.
The radio show host’s $79 million income earned him the number 10 ranking on Forbes’ recently released list of top celebrity earnings of 2016.
Limbaugh ranked one spot higher than basketball star Lebron James, three time winner of the NBA championships and 2016 MVP. Estimated to have made $77 million, James came in at number 11. According to Forbes, Limbaugh also earned more than many celebrities including Ellen Degeneres, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian.
This is sure to outrage his many liberal and media haters. In 2013, a Salon article declared “Rush Limbaugh is finished,” and labeled him a “relic of the ’90s.”
However, Limbaugh’s weekly audience in 2013 was 20 million, more than double the number of people who watched NBC’s Brian Williams in 2014.
But liberal opponents have continued to try to minimize Limbaugh’s success as a nationally syndicated radio talk show host. In February 2016, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow told Playboy that Limbaugh was “really washed up at this point as a radio host.”
Other liberal media figures who disagreed with Limbaugh’s conservative political views have resorted to name-calling and ludicrous comparisons to Hitler and Moammar Gadhafi.
