WATCH: Bjorn Lomborg Rips Media for Splattering World Cup with Climate Scare Porn

Hoover Institution’s voice of reason on the never-ending climate change propaganda slop-throwing fests ripped the media a new one for trying to inject that nonsense into the quadrennial World Cup festivities.

Climate expert Bjorn Lomborg joined Fox Business’s Varney & Company June 9 to take a blowtorch to The Los Angeles Times for doom mongering that the Americas-based World Cup was set to be the “Most dangerous World Cup ever? Climate change poses growing risks for players.”

That’s pretty hilarious, said Lomborg, given that the last World Cup in 2022 was staged in a much hotter environment in Qatar: “Even though it was in the winter time, it was 10 to 20- degrees Fahrenheit hotter. And we know how to deal with these things. We deal with them with having air conditioning!” It’s even funnier when you remember that media outlets like The Washington Post kicked up a stink over air-conditioning being a carbon footprint threat during the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Talk about trying to have your cake and eat it too. Lomborg hammered home the point that policymakers and innovators have the obvious capacity to adapt to changing environments through technology, as is evident in multiple sporting venues worldwide, including in Qatar. “People will tell you, ‘Oh, we should do something for the poor football players so we should do climate policy.’ No, we should do smart adaptation and we’ve done that for a very long time,” Lomborg concluded.

But reading other outlets' coverage just illustrates the extent to which propagandists will go to push their agenda, regardless of how foolish it makes them look.

The New York Times ran an item June 11 headlined: “Also Expected to Take the Field at the World Cup: Hazardous Heat.”

Reuters spewed out a “Newsletter” the same day headlined, “Tracking the World Cup’s heat with Reuters Climate Monitor.”

The former free-market publication Forbes magazine lamented Mother Earth as the real World Cup loser: “FIFA World Cup: Climate Is The Loser - Highest Impact Ever.”

You would think everyone was just sitting around waiting to cook themselves without taking the proper precautions to ensure players and fans celebrate the time-honored sports tradition in a safe environment. As host Stuart Varney chimed in agreement with Lomborg, “You want smart solutions as opposed to this, ‘Ending all fossil fuels tomorrow morning’” claptrap.
