The late-night comedy shows sound like they all received an email from the Biden campaign requesting they tout the latest economic numbers. There's really nothing funny about growth in the Gross Domestic Product, or oil production, or manufacturing jobs. But the comedians tried to apply their comedic skills and strategies to give Biden a PR win with low-information voters

The front pages of Monday's New York Times and Washington Post both expressed alarm at President Biden's slippage with black voters, the most reliable Democrat voting bloc. The New Hampshire primary results didn't dampen media enthusiasm for a Trump vs. Biden rerun. But Nikki Haley only lost by 11 percent. Democrat Dean Phillips almost hit 20 percent against President Biden. Haley's voters were lauded for their votes, but Phillips remained an asterisk in the pro-Biden media's coverage. Eyeballs were rolled when Brian Stelter argued to MSNBC's Joy Reid that Fox's audience is radicalized and wants to be dangerously misinformed, and "It is not biased or partisan to tug on the side of truth." His side is the "reality-based world."

A basic tenet of any sort of media tradecraft, whether in print or on-screen, is that you should have some knowledge of the things of which you speak or write. Revolutionary concept, I know. When that doesn’t happen, we get what we saw tonight- an assortment of drive-bys beclowning themselves over the meaning of a quote used by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as a callback to Ronald Reagan.
