WaPo Ombud Accidentally Reveals Paper's Double Standard
September 28th, 2008 3:49 PM
Writing in today's Washington Post, ombudsman Deborah Howell focuses on political cartoons and how in many cases they can cause offense. I was struck in particular by a few of Howell's offhand admissions most. The first is that the top editorial cartoonists across the country are mostly liberal. That concession came after Howell had briefly profiled Pat Oliphant, one of America's best-known…
Detroit Free Press: 'Which Books Would Palin Want to Ban
September 28th, 2008 1:37 PM
Last week, the Detroit Free Press's Web site posted "Which books would Palin want to ban?," a column by syndicated columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. Pitts begins with a series of possible questions for Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Then he makes his point:My first question, though, would not be one of those. I'd simply ask which books she wants to ban -- and why.Yes, there's a…
AP's Palin Derangement Extends to Her Parents ('Rat Killers
September 26th, 2008 11:09 PM
The Associated Press apparently isn't satisfied going after Sarah Palin full throttle. The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee's visit to New York City apparently went so well that an ABC pictorial series is called "Sarah Palin Takes News York" -- though the last slide takes a shot at the McCain campaign for setting boundaries on access to Palin during her meetings with foreign leaders. ABC claims that…
CNN’s Jack Cafferty Exhibiting Palin Derangement Syndrome
September 26th, 2008 6:52 PM
CNN commentator Jack Cafferty has full-blown Palin Derangement Syndrome. In his latest slam of Republican vice-presidential candidate on Friday’s The Situation Room, Cafferty labeled Palin’s interview with CBS’s Katie Couric "one of the most pathetic pieces of tape I have ever seen from someone aspiring to one of the highest offices in this country," after he played a clip of the Alaska governor …
WaPo's Capehart: Palin Reminds Me of Miss Teen South Carolina
September 26th, 2008 4:10 PM
Is there some kind of competition on the left to see who can make the most denigrating remark about the mental acuity of Republicans? As we've noted, last night Paul Begala called President Bush "a high-functioning moron," perhaps his bid to one-up Rep. Charles Rangel, who had called Sara Palin "disabled."Today, it's Jonathan Capehart's turn. Speaking with David Shuster on MSNBC this afternoon…
AP Attacks Palin for Not Being in Alaska During Campaign
September 26th, 2008 7:20 AM
The AP is suddenly alarmed that no one is "running Alaska" while Palin is out on the stump with John McCain, so much so that they've published a piece wondering if Alaska is about to sink into the icy grip of the Alaskan tundra, or something, because Palin isn't there. One wonders if the AP is all upset that no one is in Congress representing certain districts of Illinois or Delaware with Obama…
Even NYT Crossword Puzzles In Tank for Obama
September 26th, 2008 5:51 AM
Even the crossword puzzles in The New York Times are biased in favor of Obama and Biden finds David Levinson Wilk in Politico. Wilk did a little research to see how many times McCain has been an answer in the NYT puzzle since 2005. He came up with zero entries. When he looked for Obama he found the name "regularly appeared" in the puzzle. Does this prove that the Times is "150 percent in the tank…
Begala: President Bush 'a High-Functioning Moron
September 25th, 2008 10:53 PM
What is it with Democrats and their grotesque slurs upon the intelligence of their political rivals? Last week it was Charles Rangel calling Sarah Palin "disabled." Tonight on CNN, Paul Begala called President Bush "a high-functioning moron."Begala was on an Anderson Cooper-led panel with Republican Ed Rollins and CNN's Gloria Borger to discuss the state of the possible federal financial…
Hasselback Proclaims 'Hate Sarah Palin Day' on 'The View
September 25th, 2008 3:35 PM
Elisabeth Hasselbeck finally called out some of "The View"co-hosts on the Sarah Palin bashing she finally proclaimed September 25 as "Hate Sarah Palin Day." Immediately the other co-hosts defensively swarmed over the comment denying there is any hate for Governor Palin. Joy Behar claimed "it’s not personal. It’s my country that I’m worried about."Hasselbeck’s remark was sparked by a discussion…
The AP Really Ought to Go to Sunday School
September 25th, 2008 1:10 PM
When I was a kid there was a song we sang in Sunday School called, "Everybody Ought to Go to Sunday School." If I could find something to rhyme with "Associated Press reporters," I could probably write a new verse. Reporting yet another story involving Gov. Sarah Palin's former church, the AP continued its attempts to paint Palin as a closet Pentecostal, as well as to hint that Pentecostals are…
AP, CNN Both Distort Laura Bush Saying Palin 'Lacks Foreign Policy Exp
September 25th, 2008 11:50 AM
**Video Below the Fold**
In the Words-Mean-Things category, yesterday we got both the Associated Press and CNN distorting the words Laura Bush used to describe Sarah Palin on foreign policy. Worse, the video interview of the First Lady was right on CNN yet on its own Political Ticker blog, CNN still distorted what Laura Bush said about Palin. It makes you wonder if the folks at CNN even watch…
