Liberal websites were thrilled with new Daily Show host Trevor Noah for comparing Donald Trump to a series of African dictators, including Uganda’s notorious Idi Amin, estimated to be responsible for more than 100,000 deaths during his reign in the 1970s.
"What I'm trying to say is Donald Trump is presidential. He just happens to be running on the wrong continent," said Noah, a native of South Africa.
"In fact, once you realize that Trump is the perfect African president, you start to notice the similarities everywhere, like the level of self-regard," Noah joked, playing clips of Amin describing his riches and the size of his brain. Noah said his full title was "His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular."
"Luckily, Idi Amin didn't own any casinos," Noah cracked as a photoshopped image of Trump's Las Vegas hotel displayed the lengthy title. He laughed heartily at his own joke.
Trump is so “African presidential,” Noah claimed, that “he’s already at the level of Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, whose brutality and repressive tactics have kept him in power for 35 years.” Then they matched Mugabe’s boasts with similar-sounding Trump boasts.
"Actually, now that I think about it, Trump reminds me of one African leader in particular," Noah said, displaying an image of the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi. "Weird hair, check. Lavish lifestyle, check. Fringe discredited views about President Obama's origins?" he asked, playing a 2008 clip of Gadhafi remarking about Obama, “along came a black citizen of Kenyan African origin, a Muslim. His name is Obama.” Noah added: "Check."
Noah stroked all the erogenous comedy zones of the Obama-loving liberal. One can imagine that if a comedian compared imperious Obama to African dictators, these same liberals would find it a loathsome smear of the worst kind.
