Bringing some humor to the Hillary Clinton e-mail scandal and 2016 election, NBC’s Jimmy Fallon joked during his on monologue on Thursday’s Tonight Show about Anthony Weiner and another gaffe by Vice President Joe Biden that had him once again including China as part of North America.
In the first quip, Fallon gave viewers the background information that “Anthony Weiner is denying Donald Trump's suggestion that his wife Huma shared classified information with him while she worked for Hillary Clinton.”
Fallon then jested that, with respect to the disgraced former Democratic Congressman, “nothing puts a rumor to rest like a denial from Anthony Weiner.” With the crowd breaking out into huge laughter, Fallon did a brief imitation of Weiner: “‘I didn't send those pics. Oh, wait, those pics? Yeah, I sent those pics.’”
Moments later, he turned his attention to Biden, remarking that “he does seem to be giving more speeches recently” amid rumors he may run for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.
Fallon pointed out that, in one of them, Biden went to Florida and promoted “all the new energy being produced by the North American countries.” He then added a caveat before a clip of Biden that “[m]ost of them are North American countries. “
Here’s the transcribed soundbite from Biden in which he committed a big geographical gaffe (for the second time): “North America is going to be, for the first half of the century at least, the epicenter of energy in the world. Not the Arabian peninsula. Not Venezuela. Not Nigeria. North America. Mexico, the United States, and China.”
With the crowd laughing and clapping, Fallon snickered as well before providing his thoughts as to what the Vice President was thinking immediately afterward: “He said, ‘aw, heck, I was never good at geometry. So, I mean, give me a break, whatever.’”
