One day after denouncing the media for their double standard in the portrayal of the tea party compared to the Black Lives Matter movement, Kelly File host Megyn Kelly returned Tuesday night and along with Townhall editor Katie Pavlich, the pair squared off against Fox News Channel contributor Richard Fowler in a heated debate with Fowler excusing members of the movement who have chanted violent, anti-police rhetoric.
The tension began to escalate when Fowler told Kelly that it didn’t appear that “we are watching the same Black Lives Matter movement” since “if you talk to any organizers on the ground, both in Ferguson, in Baltimore and New York, they will tell you they are a nonviolent movement, that all they want to do is end the disparities.”
Clearly not satisfied, Pavlich repeatedly hollered at Fowler to “condemn” a Minnesota Black Lives Matter group that chanted “pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon” while he shot back that this represented “one small incident of the Black Lives Matter movement”
Kelly then gave her own quick response (which Fowler refused to answer): “Richard, why – why are so many on the left so quick to tie a few comments made by a few alleged tea party members to the entire tea party?”
Moments later, Kelly interjected to demand that Fowler answer for the left following the media’s lead in creating huge double standard:
Richard, the people on the left we just showed were very quick to blame violence that happened in the country on what they alleged were a couple of tea party comments that they found to be racist or incendiary. Why are they not as outraged now when, as you point out, “okay, maybe it was just Minnesota, maybe it was just those new black panthers – maybe it’s just that one roasted pig,” but suddenly, the actions of a few do not apply to the many. Why the double standard?
In response, Fowler claimed that the alleged shooter in the death of a sheriff’s deputy in Harris County, Texas “had tea party sentiment[s]” and then broadly asserted that “the Black Lives Matter movement, for the past year, has petitioned and fought to make sure that black lives indeed do matter and they’re not gunned down by police officers or choked to death in New York City by – like Eric Garner was.”
When finally given a chance to respond, Pavlich told viewers that she “just want[ed] to make it clear and obvious that Richard Fowler refuses to condemn Black Lives Matter protesters.”
It was at that moment that Fowler interrupted the Townhall editor to repeatedly inform her that he “will not condemn them” to which Pavlich responded that Fowler has refused to denounce people who want “officers to be executed in their police vehicles.”
Additionally, he told Pavlich that she was “darn right” to tell him that he “refuse[s] to condemn Black Lives Matter protesters” because apparently “[t]here’s no clear” or “substantial evidence” that the far-left movement has contributed to the cop killings and attacks on law enforcement. With the show set to go to break within a matter of seconds, Kelly abruptly ended the segment in mid-sentence as the banter between Fowler and Pavlich persisted.
Tuesday night was far from the first instance in which Kelly and Fowler got into a heated debate on FNC. On July 9's Kelly File, the FNC host blasted Fowler for not answering her questions concerning the tragic shooting death of Kate Steinle by an illegal immigrant in San Francisco.
Weeks earlier on June 24, the pair came to blows over a hit list published by the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) that targeted various women who have been prominent critics of radical Islam.
