Russell Brand – the controversial comedian and self-proclaimed “revolutionary” says he would go to Syria, but only if he could fly first class.
In his latest YouTube lecture, Brand blamed Seifeddine Rezgui’s mass killing of 38 innocent people in Tunisia on the British government and called prime minister David Cameron's call for a minute of silence an “empty, futile gesture, a general policy of bull----.” He believed the attack should be blamed on Britain selling arms abroad, perpetuating war for profit.
Brand is so hated there’s even an online fundraising drive to send him there, though it’s not like Brand needs the money. Brand is a millionaire, even though he’s an anti-capitalist and rails against the “rich” constantly.
Like a good leftist, Brand lectures that it was almost unimportant that the terrorist in Tunisia was Muslim, since everyone else there who helped Western tourists was a Muslim -- or "the real Muslims," as Brand and his leftist friends assert.
The comment about going to Syria came when Brand highlighted a message on a show called “The Proud Archivist” that suggested he go and live in Syria:
StevHilsley's said: "If he feels so strongly why does he not go and live in Syria and I would pay his fare for him. Anyone else contribute?"
Brand quoted the message and responded he had a 'good mind' to take up the offer as long as he could go first class.
Needless to say, many took to social media to blast Brand on being disrespectful to those who died in the Tunisian massacre:
Zoë Kirk-Robinson said: 'As if Syria doesn't have enough problems, here comes Russell Brand!'
Adrian Owlett said: 'Bye bye and don't hurry back.'
Gavin Sutton said: 'And do please stay there.'
A GoFundMe page has now been set up which aims to raise 1,000 pounds for his one-way ticket.
