Chris Matthews may have gotten thrills up his leg from President Obama, but he could well rival Marilyn Monroe as the bubbliest blond to be taken with the Kennedy boys. Yes, the Hardball host is working on yet ANOTHER book about the Kennedy clan, this one tentatively titled "Bob" and focusing on Robert F. Kennedy.
Politico's Dylan Byers broke the news earlier today:
MSNBC host Chris Matthews is at work on a new book about the life of Robert F. Kennedy, tentatively titled "Bob," after the name Kennedy went by among friends, the On Media blog has learned.
The book is Matthews' first on the former New York Senator and Democratic presidential candidate, and the third to touch on the Kennedy family dynasty. Matthews also authored "Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero," which came out in 2012, and "Kennedy & Nixon: The Rivalry that Shaped Postwar America," which came out in 2011.
Matthews, who was travelling on Wednesday, was not immediately available for comment. Simon & Schuster, the publisher of Kennedy's most recent books, and presumably the publisher of "Bob," did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Matthews, like the Kennedys a Massachusetts-born Irish-Catholic, served for four Democratic members of Congress, as a speechwriter for President Jimmy Carter, and as chief of staff to House Speaker Tip O'Neill. He also ran for congress from Pennsylvania's 4th district, and lost. He became a journalist in 1987 and a television host ten years later.
Matthews' wife Kathleen is currently running for congress from Maryland's 8th congressional district, where the Matthews live.
