Please check out our former MRC colleague Joe Schoffstall and his report for CapitalCityProject.com on Ed Schultz’s lucrative pay from labor unions.
Raking in the hundreds of thousands of bucks from the working man while he plays "independent" talk-TV host at MSNBC must be nice for Ed. Like Al Sharpton, this suggests there aren't a lot of ethical rules to observe when you work for Obama Central.
MSNBC liberal talking head Ed Schultz, who regularly props up unions on his show, received a minimum of $127,000 from organized labor during the fiscal years of 2013 and 2014, according to the United States Department of Labor payer/payee query.
The 2014 Teachers AFL-CIO National Headquarters report — released in September of this year — shows that Schultz was given $20,000 from the union for “representational activities.”
In 2013, three payments were made from labor unions to Schultz that currently show up on the site.
The first being from the Steelworkers AFL-CIO National Headquarters in the amount of $5,000 for “union administration” purposes. The second 2013 payment, from the Auto Workers AFL-CIO National Headquarters, was $72,000 total for “representational activities.” Lastly, the third payment made to Schultz during 2013, came from the Postal Workers, AFL-CIO National Headquarters in the amount of $30,000.
These three payments total $107,000.
This isn’t nearly the first time Schultz has been paid by unions — he’s been on their payroll for years.
The $127,000 figure for 2013 and 2014 may actually be a bit low. This is because some reports that have previously shown up on the Department of Labor’s payer/payee query are no longer appearing.
Last year, Truth Revolt’s Elisha Krauss reported that Schultz received $177,000 from unions in 2012 and $75,000 from unions in 2013. However, the above 2013 figures that we’re reporting were not on the DOL website at the time of Truth Revolts piece. Additionally, now the figures they reported on last December from FY 2013 — $75,000 worth of payments — are no longer visible on their website.
If you take into account the FY 2013 reports that came up in a search last year and combine it with the FY 2013 reports showing now, he has received $182,000 from unions during 2013, bringing his combined total for both FY 2013 and 2014 to $202,000.
