Hillary Super PAC Advisor Dismisses Palin As 'A Comedian'

June 10th, 2014 2:30 PM

Chris Jansing spent more than 5 minutes of the June 10 edition of Jansing & Co. showing a live stream of fans waiting for Hillary’s book signing at the Union Square Barnes & Noble in New York and airing the pro-Hillary spin of Tracy Sefl, a senior advisor in the super PAC Ready For Hillary. Sefl, who lauded Clinton as “fantastic” for shedding light on “the pervasive sexism of the 2008 campaign”quickly dismissed Sarah Palin as “if anything, a comedian.”

The MSNBC host asked Sefl what she thought of Sarah Palin’s reaction to a released excerpt in Clinton’s book where the former Secretary of State described how, in 2008, she refused the Obama campaign when they asked her to lead the attack on Sarah Palin directly after Palin was appointed the Republican vice presidential nominee. Sarah Palin replied to the new excerpt via twitter, “Look who fired the 1st shot in the real "war on women". Hint: it wasn't the GOP. See this excerpt from Hillary's book.” [See video below. Even Jansing was surprised by Sefl’s brusque dismissal of Sarah Palin as a joke, noting how Team Obama sought to use Clinton as a foil in 2008.

But the Clinton acolyte continued, unfazed, describing how Hillary confronted the “unique challenges for any woman candidate,” without acknowledging Sarah Palin’s attempt to address the very same sexism she faced as a Republican candidate.

Apparently, only Democratic women suffer sexism on the campaign trail.

CHRIS JANSING, host: Well, she is also talking about Sarah Palin and the 2008 campaign with NBC Cynthia McFadden and let me play it for you.

HILLARY CLINTON: The day she was nominated the Obama campaign did contact me and asked me if I would attack her, I said, attack her for what? Being a woman? Attack her for being on a ticket that is trying to draw attention? There will be plenty of time to do what I think that you should do in politics, which is to draw distinctions.

JANSING: Didn’t take long for Sarah Palin to tweet about that, in fact she said that it essentially suggests that it makes the Democrats look bad, like they are the original people with the war on women if they’re asking Hillary Clinton to come out against Sarah Palin. Does Sarah Palin have a point?

TRACY SEFL, senior advisor of Ready For Hillary: Sarah Palin, if anything, is a comedian.

JANSING: That is it? You are not at all surprised that the Obama administration that Sarah Palin gets nominated and they want Hillary Clinton the go out and speak against her?

SEFL: Well, put Sarah Palin aside. I think what Hillary Clinton goes on the speak quite revealingly about is the pervasive sexism of the 2008 campaign and the coverage and the specific and unique challenges for any woman candidate. And that’s a conversation that she seems very eager to have. And whether Ms. Palin is part of that conversation or not isn’t the issue. I think it is fantastic that she is taking on the topic, and I really do look forward to what she’ll say.
