MRC's Brent Bozell Rips WashPost Film Critic For Her Feminist Rant on 'The Kelly File'

MRC president Brent Bozell appeared on The Kelly File on the Fox News Channel on Tuesday night. The subject was Washington Post film critic Ann Hornaday’s bizarre indictment of Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen movies as leading to the stabbing-and-shooting murders at the University of California-Santa Barbara.

Bozell appeared with left-wing radio host Richard Fowler and mental health expert Donna Fuller. He couldn’t get over how incredibly lame Hornaday sounded, that frat-boys-will-be-boys movies spur mass murder (MP3 audio here. Video below):

KELLY: Thank you all. And so, Ann Hornaday goes on to say this man's delusions and he does talk about how he was a virgin and he didn't have the love that so many other men had. The love or sex. She says, his delusions were inflated if not created by the entertainment industry he grew up in because he was the son of a famous Hollywood director. Brent, your take on it?

BRENT BOZELL, PRESIDENT, MEDIA RESEARCH CENTER: For the love of God. Look, entertainment media, movies, TV shows, music, they do have an influence on the young. There's no question. There's no question that if you have the genre that glamorizes ultra violence, it does have an influence on violent behavior. It is true that programming that glamorizes irresponsible sexual behavior is going to have an impact on people behaving irresponsibly. But to suggest that programming that focuses on irresponsible sexual behavior leads somebody to commit violence is such a - - anti-male pro-feminist whacko belief system. Look, this is a guy who killed. I don't know that he was sick or that he was evil but on this one you can't blame Hollywood.

KELLY: ...You know, Brent, when you read the papers today Brent, not only are folks, you know, looking squarely at guns and once again not nearly enough as mental health and how we reform that system. But look, it's all about the guns and the weapons they chose. Meanwhile, this guy started off by stabbing three people. But they are focused now on Hollywood. I mean, it's like blame everything but the actual problem which is what's going on in these guys' heads.

BOZELL: Yes. Yes. But it's our cultural victimology. We look for victims everywhere. This is where people who have such a problem with western civilization. Across the pond this weekend, the BBC banned the word "girl" because that somehow is offensive to girls. So you got, you know, left and right you can't breathe. You can't do another "Animal House" movie if this is what we're talking about because someone will go out and commit murder because of it. It's a silly proposition. This is a serious, serious issue. Treat it serious. Stop playing political games.

In a video posted Tuesday at the Post website, Hornaday claimed she didn’t mean to “cast blame” on Apatow and Rogen for the mass murder. Like many liberals, she lauded herself for merely starting a dialogue,  raising the “question” of the societal “costs” of frat-boy movies.
