A bad stretch for liberals just got worse, all because George Zimmerman decided again he needed to get out of a vehicle.
This time Zimmerman helped rescue a family of four from a wrecked SUV in Florida. Turns out it was more than left-wing radio hosts Bill Press and Stephanie Miller could bear, as both expressed doubts about the incident while heaping aspersions on Zimmerman, who recently showed how a man of color facing a murder charge in a high-profile case could get a fair trial in America. (Audio clips after the jump)
This morning, Press and guest Igor Volsky of ThinkProgress suggested Zimmerman's actions in helping the family were staged as part of a ruse to salvage his public image (h/t for audio clips, Brian Maloney, mrctv.org) --
PRESS: Well, I would hope that if you come across a car accident that anybody, even a murderer, would get out and help them out, right? Not get out and kick them in the teeth or something. But so, two questions I have about this to both of you. Number one, what does it matter that he helped somebody out of a car? Doesn't erase the fact that he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, right?
VOLSKY: No.
PRESS PRODUCER PETER OGBURN: No.PRESS: Unjustifiably in my opinion and I think the facts show that. But secondly, all right, I know I'm going to get in trouble for this, do you really think this happened?
OGBURN: No!
PRESS: All right, you're the one in trouble!OGBURN: Yeah, I don't think so. It smells, it stinks to high heaven!
VOLSKY: Where are the pictures or video?
OGBURN: Yeah.
VOLSKY: One of the things I think that's has been most frustrating after the verdict is this effort to rehabilitate his image.
Not sure which is more ludicrous -- Press suggesting that "even a murderer" would help accident victims stricken on the side of the road, or his airy dismissal, "what does it matter that he helped somebody out of a car"? Imagine the reaction from Press, Volsky and liberals across the board if news broke that Zimmerman passed an accident scene where people were hurt and did not stop to help. Doesn't take much in imagination to hear their collective AH HAH!
More along the same lines from libtalker Stephanie Miller and three of her favorite coatcatchers (audio) --
MILLER: Oh, this just in, apparently George Zimmerman saved Baby Jessica from the well.
CHRIS LAVOIE: Oh good. Good for him.
MILLER: I did not realize that either. I forgot that story.
JIM WARD: Good for him. Well, well, well, he then spun back in time and unexploded the Hindenburg.
MILLER: Wow, he is awesome.
WARD: What a guy! That's just the kind of guy he is, he's just, he's just splendid.
MILLER: All right, join us if you're calling bull (bleep) on this George Zimmerman rescued story. ... Oh, this just in regarding the Southwest Airlines flight, breaking, Zimmerman steps in and acts as nose gear for plane and pulled out 300 passengers from the wreckage.
WARD: Right, that's just the kind of guy he is.
MILLER: He's just awesome!
WARD: He went to the front of the plane and jumped down into the wheel well and stopped the plane with his feet. His feet are completely burned off now.
MILLER: Like Fred Flintstone except with a plane. ... John Fugelsang, are you also calling bull (bleep) on this George Zimmerman rescued story like we are or, uh ...?
FUGELSANG: I haven't heard that much about it yet, you know, I don't know enough about it. I understand he did wear a cape and now for all the, this actually wipes away the fact that he assaulted a female cop and had a restraining order against him from his old fiancee for battery, so I guess he's always been a great guy.
WARD: Standing his ground.
Isn't it amazing that not a single liberal, not that I've heard about anyway, will dare utter this blasphemy ... maybe we were wrong about this guy ...
