Daily Kos Week in Review: White After Labor Day

October 13th, 2012 6:23 AM

There are plenty of reasonable explanations for why Republicans have a hard time winning over black voters. Leave it to a Kossack to offer an unreasonable explanation: that today's GOP "looks and acts like a white supremacist lynch mob." That blogger also likens Ann Coulter to a rabid weasel and presents her as one of the leading apologists for this violently racist party.

As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.

MinistryOfTruth: Coulter, mouthpiece for a modern-day Klan

...Coulter's new book is titled "Mugged" because "Stupid shit white people tell themselves about black people" doesn't have the same ring to it and I'm guessing "Mugged by a black guy" seemed too obvious. In the Republican world the only kind of racism that exists is racism against black republicans...

...Coulter...is the moral equivalent of a weasel with rabies...

Listen, Ann, I'm not black, nor do I claim to be an expert on black people, but I'm willing to guess why Republicans can not get black people to vote for them. It's not because black people don't understand the "true" African American history, it's because, from where I stand, the Republican party of 2012 looks and acts like a white supremacist lynch mob...

LeftHandedMan: The left should go Khrushchev on the right...

...This is the time to bury them.

The Movement Conservative Right and their Conventional Wisdom Pimp enablers...

It's simple. The whole fucking Movement Conservative machine is ten thousand heads crammed up one giant Borg collective asshole. They are a fucking sham. A fucking sham that has been such a total and absolute myth-making success for so long, that they all actually believe that their sham is actually something vastly more substantive and stout. They are totally high on their own supply and dealing with any downside that comes of it by amping up their collective intake of pure ideological nose candy...

The nation isn't as completely enslaved to the whims of angry resentful white people and low information voters anymore, and they are drowing in their own stubborn refusal to recognize the obvious and clearly ominous slow-moving epic fail...

brooklynbadboy: ...and treat Romney like a dead fish

...I'm so pleased that the [Obama] campaign...now understands the need for a guy like Romney to indeed get gutted...Watching the President on the stump, after having shaken the cold, clammy hand of a scumbag like Romney, he now understands Romney isn't any ordinary opponent...Romney isn't even your average Republican nutcase. He is one of the worst human beings to ever seek the office.

...That someone as depraved as him could ever get this close to the presidency is not only an indictment of the modern Republican Party, but a stinging in your face middle finger to the entire conception of modern democracy.

...Romney cannot be tolerated or treated with anything approaching basic respect. He must be destroyed so that someone like him never ever gets this close to leading this nation.

Troubadour: Conservatives = hyperactive adolescent liars

...[C]onservatives don't care what their candidate says on the debate platform as as long as it looks like "strength" to them - and behaving like an emotionally disturbed 15-year-old tweaking on five Red Bulls probably does look that way to such people. They don't care what he says because lying is something conservatives accept and understand as a tool of making everyone else do what they want...

martianexpatriate: The right won't go to rehab

...There is a hard core of the [conservative] base that watches FOX news and nothing else, and mainly chooses to associate only with other conservative Republicans. They are essentially choosing to segregate themselves from a society which they no longer feel they are a part of.

Demonizing the media, science, and education is the new conservative opiate. This 'opiate' is far more dangerous to the country than any drug we've produced.

The truth is, you can only deal with a problem once you admit it exists. And furthermore, it is only possible to improve yourself after you've realized something is wrong. The first thing you are told in any drug counseling program is that first, they have to admit that they have a problem. Until they've done that, there is no hope of recovery...
