Like a lot of Americans who live outside the D.C. metro area, I was first introduced to Tony Blankley by PBS's McLaughlin Group.
It was therefore quite fitting that host John McLaughlin as well as panelists Michelle Bernard, Pat Buchanan, Eleanor Clift, and Clarence Page on Friday paid tribute to Blankley who sadly passed away last Saturday (video follows with commentary):
On a personal note, few writers have taught me more about conservatism and politics than Tony Blankley. From the first time I saw him on the McLaughlin Group years ago, I was amazed by his knowledge as well as the charming, congenial way he expressed his views.
One of the highlights of my writing career was interviewing Tony at the Republican National Convention in 2008. I was thrilled when he said he was a fan of NewsBusters' and that he was familiar with my work.
As correctly expressed by people on both sides of the aisle this past week, America has lost a gem.
Rest in Peace, Tony.
