Last month as NewsBusters reported, Jay Leno did a disgustingly sycophantic interview with President Obama.
On Monday's program, comedian Dennis Miller told the Tonight Show host, "You guys have quite a bromance there, don't you? I've come up with one of those celebrity nicknames for you two -- J-Lobama" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
JAY LENO, HOST: How you been, my friend?
DENNIS MILLER: I'm good. Is this the, this is exciting. Is this the seat the president sat in?
LENO: That’s the very seat the president sat in.
MILLER: Wow, that's kind of cool. You guys have quite a, quite a bromance there, don't you?
LENO: Yeah.
MILLER: Huh?
LENO: I'm friends with all people.
MILLER: I know. It's like a relationship. I've come up with one of those celebrity nicknames for you two.
LENO: What's that?
MILLER: J-Lobama.
[ Laughter ]
LENO: Oh, J-Lobama. I like that.
MILLER: Yeah. The two of you. [Applause]
LENO: See, I know. [Applause]
MILLER: I think if his schedule ever opens up, say, January 21, 2013.
[Laughter]
LENO: Yeah.
MILLER: He should become your Ed McMahon.
LENO: You think so? Ed McMahon?
MILLER: Yeah. I could see you guys doing comedy bits out here where you come out as Carnut the Magnificent.
[Laughter ]
LENO: Yes, yes. Very good.
MILLER: You have the turban on and the mechanic overalls. And you make predictions and he reads, "You are correct, sir," off a teleprompter.
LENO: Well, thank you. Thank you very much.
[Cheers and applause] Now you see, I sense, I sense -- hang on. I sense some sarcasm in your tone.
MILLER: No.
For those that have forgotten, even the perilously liberal Daily Beast found Leno's October interview with the President over the top writing, "Obama couldn’t have found a more willing accomplice. Leno—who wears his American flag pin on the right lapel, in contrast to the president’s flag-on-left—might just as well been scripted by David Axelrod."
Indeed.
