Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman made a bold prediction on CNN's Erin Burnett Outfront Wednesday.
"We've seen in elections past, how one does in New Hampshire, and we're going to win New Hampshire, that always then predicts the future outcome of the race" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
ERIN BURNETT, HOST: Governor and Ambassador Huntsman, thanks so much for being here. Really appreciate it. Why aren't you doing better? You got the endorsements. What's happening?
JON HUNTSMAN (R), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: We've got the endorsements. We've got a plan. We have a message. The only numbers, Erin, at this point that really matter are those in New Hampshire, because that's where you have our nation's first primary, that's where people have seen it all and heard it all. And in order to get up in the polls there, you've got to have a message that is compelling, that is believable, that is authentic, and one moreover where the people of New Hampshire can hear it and believe it's the right vision for the United States.
We've done 75 events now in New Hampshire. And we're going to be doing a whole lot more. And as we've seen in elections past, how one does in New Hampshire, and we're going to win New Hampshire, that always then predicts the future outcome of the race. And I like our chances in New Hampshire. So, keep your eyes focused there.
Pretty bold prediction there as according to Real Clear Politics, Huntsman is currently tied for fourth in New Hampshire with only 6.7 percent of those surveyed a full 32 points behind leader Mitt Romney.
Stay tuned.
