Mississippi teenagers Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour reportedly threatened The View’s Sunny Hostin with a defamation lawsuit if the ABC News co-host didn’t walk back and make amends for allegedly defamatory statements she made against them. The legal threat pertained to comments Hostin delivered on the July 14 episode during their conversation about the mysterious death of black teenager Nolan Wells.
In the segment in question, Hostin erroneously suggested that because the events unfolded in Mississippi that there was possible foul play with racial motivations, hinting the white kids he was with intentionally murdered him:
Ben Crump has been retained by the family and is conducting an independent investigation, so much so, because it's happening in Mississippi. There are some racial undertones to this. He was the only black kid on an island full of kids that were white.
The View's Sunny Hostin is currently facing the threat of a DEFAMATION SUIT over her comments about the disappearance and death of black teen Nolan Wells.

She also suggested the three teens might have had something to do with it, with the letter claiming she falsely claimed the teens hid Wells’ phone from his parents:
HOSTIN: There were three boys with him that were good friends with him.
BEHAR: What are they saying?
HOSTIN: They turned off their social media accounts. They say that they have cooperated with the police, but they took his -- they kept his phone and didn't give it to his parents.
The boys’ attorneys unloaded on Hostin in their formal pre-suit demand letter, writing, “Your brand of ‘journalism’ is no Sunny Delight: rather, your ‘brand’ is toxic, moronic, and daft.”
Continuing to be spot on, the letter called out why Hostin no longer practiced law and was a TV co-host instead: “We now understand why, instead of seeking justice, you now work for The View, a show that long betrayed any semblance of fairness, reason, or common sense.”
According to reporting form the New York Post, the lawyers told Hostin they found her actions “baffling” and reckless given her past as a former federal prosecutor:
The lawyers described Hostin’s comments as “allegations of murder, hindering prosecution, and tampering with physical evidence,” adding that they have “no basis in evidence or reality.”
“It is hard to fathom the pure negligence and recklessness you have shown through your multiple interviews regarding these young men and the tragic death of their friend, Nolan Wells,” their letter stated.
“Your unwillingness to research the most basic facts surrounding the incident before commenting publicly is downright baffling.
“Moreover, as a former prosecutor, you of all people should know the importance of ‘innocent until proven guilty.’ You swore an oath with that principle in mind.”
Additionally, the letter pointed out Hostin admitting to having a close friendship with Ben Crump, the camera chasing, race baiting lawyer representing the Wells family:
“It is abundantly clear that you were not acting as an objective journalist when you defamed Warren, Jax, and Morgan, but rather, you were acting as a mouthpiece for Mr. Crump,” Paltzik and Cox wrote. “This is unacceptable.”
Between this lawsuit and the Federal Communications Commission, there’s a tremendous about of pressure for some accountability for The View’s mendacious lies.
