Obsessed CNN's Coverage Of Natalie Harp Letters To Trump Mostly Omits Vital Information

August 23rd, 2026 6:41 AM

As has been previously pointed out, ever since Democrat Senator Jon Ossoff implied that White House aide Natalie Harp's relationship with President Trump is more than just business, the left wing media has been obsessed with the story. On Thursday they were given some new ammunition thanks to an article in The Daily Beast, which printed a pair of letters allegedly written by Harp to Trump in 2023.

They reinforce the admiration, loyalty and closeness that Harp feels for the President, that the left has been using to attempt to pervert the relationship. But the article also contained vital context, as to why Harp might have these feelings towards Trump. One is, she believes that he had saved her life.

The story notes, "Harp, who grew up in California, was first noticed by the President when she spoke on Fox News in 2019 and gave credit for legislation he signed the year before for helping her recover from bone cancer. Experts have questioned whether his legislation could really have helped, given her public statements about the timeline of the illness. She spoke at the Republican National Convention in 2020, and was involved in Trump’s campaign that year. She then worked for the OAN Network until 2022, when she joined Trump’s team as an assistant."

On Friday, CNN was obsessed with the story. Between 7 am and 10 pm, it was covered in all but 3 hours of programming, and while Harp's belief that Trump saved her life was included in CNN's reports from 7-11 am, from that point on, that context mysteriously disappeared.

CNN's News Central mentioned it in all three of their hours including their first at 7am, with White HouseCorrespondent Alayna Treene reporting, "I would remind you that she credits Trump with saving her life. She has said in the past that she had suffered from bone cancer, and that it was his 2018 legislation that allowed her to receive experimental treatments to help her. She's never disclosed what those treatments were, but that is part of this connection that runs deep between them."

Treene also mentioned it in the first hour of The Situation Room, "And I think what's important, some important context to note here,....and remind our viewers that she has credited the president with saving her life. She has said in the past that she had suffered from bone cancer and that she believes that it was the president's 2018 legislation that he had signed that she credits with allowing her to receive experimental treatments....I think that gives you some insight into why she feels such total loyalty toward the president."

In hour 2, Pamela Brown introduced White House Correspondent Kristen Holmes, who filed a report that included even more information.

print-only

HOLMES (voice-over): Her loyalty surpasses politics. She says the President saved her life when she was diagnosed with bone cancer, citing 2018 legislation.

TRUMP: And I was watching and I heard the story of an incredible, unbelievable young woman who was battling rare bone cancer.

HARP: As I like to say, I'm not dying from cancer anymore thanks to President Trump. I'm living with cancer.

TRUMP: Her name is Natalie Harp and she lit up the television screen like very few people I've ever seen do it.

HOLMES (voice-over): It was her television presence that led to the President inviting her to speak at the 2020 Republican Convention.

HARP: I wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for you.

Vital information if you are intent on reporting the story fairly. But that was it!  From 1pm through 10 pm, there were 8 different segments on Harp and Trump on CNN, and not one mentioned the context that had previously been presented. What happened? Was it becoming too obvious that it's a less salacious story, if you tell the whole story? Were they told to stop? After all, this is CNN.

But there is still another revealing fact in the Daily Beast story, that has been missing from left wing media coverage. Harp’s father, Robert, a real estate broker, died by suicide in 2020. Doesn't it make perfect sense that Harp would come to view Trump, the man who she believed had saved her life, as a father figure? But loyalty and devotion to Trump are treated as sick, not sensible.
