David Bozell Tells Sinclair News: Apple & Google News Push Media Outlets that Haven’t Backed a Republican in 36 Years

August 21st, 2026 12:51 PM

Between 1988 and 2024, the top five outlets promoted by Apple News and Google News that endorse candidates issued 31 presidential endorsements, and 100% went to Democrats. A Media Research Center (MRC) study analyzed the historical endorsement records of the platforms' default feeds and found that not a single top-promoted outlet has backed a Republican candidate in the last ten elections.

Appearing on Sinclair Broadcasting's The National News Desk, MRC President David Bozell pointed to these findings to demonstrate how the most popular news apps systematically isolate conservative viewpoints.

For the tens of millions of Americans checking the default features on their phones hundreds of times a day, Bozell argued this reliance on Democrat-endorsing outlets can have a real impact on public opinion. To present a truly neutral aggregation, platforms must include center-right perspectives alongside traditional left-leaning outlets.

Bozell highlighted these numbers as clear proof that Apple and Google are intentionally placing a thumb on the scale to promote left-leaning media. The full interview is below.
