Elements of the elitist liberal media were going so hard in the paint to defend and cover up the far-left extremists taking over their Democratic Party that they were literally claiming there was “not a communist country on the face of the planet.” That’s a direct quote from NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo during an interview with conservative commentator Bill O’Reilly, on the former’s eponymous TV show.
Cuomo brought O’Reilly on to give his opinion about how the Democratic primary nomination of Abdul El-Sayed to be their guy in the Michigan Senate race could hurt the party in general elections throughout the country. O’Reilly notes the open embrace of communism from the far-left:
There's hasn't been, in my lifetime, a movement as radical as a Bernie-Sanders-led progressive movement. This took me by surprise on - Two years ago, if you were to say ‘Hey, there’s going to be a big communist element and it's going to get traction.’ I would have went, ‘what are you talking about Albania?’
Chris Cuomo plays dumb on DSA and Mamdani's admiration and goals of a communist regime. He goes so far as to ridiculously claims "There is not a communist country on the face of the planet." He calls communism "a boogieman."

“But who's a communist? Who's a communist? Who? Who's a columnist?” Cuomo demanded to know.
But as O’Reilly was starting to call out New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s past comments about “seizing the means of production” and his ideation of communist soldiers, Cuomo interjected to argue that Mamdani hadn’t done any of that yet. He then insanely asserted there were no communist countries AT ALL and that communism was just “a boogieman”:
O’REILLY: The means of production is what people like Mamdani want to control. All you got to do is look it up. Okay, the means of production. They wants to control that -

CUOMO (Interrupting): Mamdani is mayor New York City. He's the mayor of new York City. He has done nothing to take away private property. He's taxing. He's doing other things that he said he was going to do when he was running, but this socialist thing let alone communism. There is not a communist country on the face of the planet.
O’REILLY: Look. I know you don’t buy it.
CUOMO: It’s a boogieman!
China, North Korea, and Cuba couldn't be reached for comment.
Again, as O’Reilly was pointing out that Mamdani had started to roll out communist polices, Cuomo interrupted and moved the goal posts to argue that he was only just one guy and not representative of the Democratic Party:
O’REILLY: But he's frozen rents. Okay, in New York City, that's the first step. Now, he wants grocery stores to undercut other grocery stores. The guy is a classic Marxist person. Yesterday, it was amazing because Bernie Sanders -
CUOMO (Interrupting): But he’s the mayor of New York City he’s not the entire party.
Cuomo’s play-dumb performance bore a resemblance to the false claims made by many of the elitist media’s so-called “fact-checkers,” who came out in force to protect their party’s far-left extremism.
“The spokesperson sent us a June 30 New York Post article highlighting Mamdani’s 2021 remarks as a newly elected state assemblyman and a 2020 Mamdani tweet praising a young leader. (We won’t dwell on the latter post because Mamdani’s point isn’t clear.)” PolitiFact’s Amy Sherman wrote in July of 2025.
The Mamdani post Sherman claimed “isn’t clear” was him proclaiming he would be a communist mayor and comparing himself to a member of India’s Communist Party.
Between Sherman and now Cuomo, it’s clear that the elitist, liberal media’s goal was to tell their audiences to ignore their lying eyes and don’t believe these politicians when they tell you who they were the first time. To an insane degree.
