Filling in for Geoffrey Dickens this week, I’m here to reveal the winner of the Worst Media Quote of the Week. As a refresher, this interactive series is where you – our loyal NewsBusters readers and MRC supporters – have a say as to which elite liberal journalist or deranged celebrity had the hottest take – otherwise known as the worst media quote of the week.

Thank you to all who voted last week via NewsBusters and the MRC’s various social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, X, and Truth Social).

Without any further ado, the results have been tabulated and the winner for the Worst Media Quote of Week is…

Don Lemon!

The former CNN host-turned-YouTube and Substack buffoon pulled away with a strong 61 percent of the vote for his hot take declaring the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement is the modern Nazi Party.

CNN NewsNight host Abby Phillip was in second at 28 percent, and Lemon’s fellow podcast charlatan Jennifer Welch was in third at 11 percent

Check out the following clip (via the MRC Video team) to see the nominees in action:

WINNER (61 percent of the vote)

CNN’s Abby Phillip on Non-Citizens Voting in New Jersey: Is This Really “Fraud?”

Abby Phillip: “They’re not voting because they’re trying to defraud the system. They might have cast a ballot because they just weren’t aware that they were incorrectly put on the voter rolls.”
Scott Jennings: “They weren’t aware that they weren’t a citizen of the United States?...”
Phillip: “Is this accurately described as fraud, when none of these people tried to register to vote?”

— CNN’s NewsNight with Abby Phillip, July 21.

SECOND PLACE (28 percent of the vote)

Don Lemon: MAGA Is the “Modern Version of the Nazi Party”

“MAGA is the closest thing to the modern version of the Nazi Party. This is America’s version. It’s the closest thing, without the Holocaust and all that stuff. That sort of mindset. That’s what MAGA is….No matter how many facts and how much information you give them about this presidency, about the policies, they don’t change their minds because they’re really not voting for the price of eggs. They’re voting for White supremacy.”

— Former CNN anchor Don Lemon on the Can’t Be Censored podcast, July 15.

THIRD PLACE (11 percent of the vote)

Jennifer Welch Attacks JD Vance’s “Homicidal Hypocrisy,” Won’t “Stand Up” For His Own Kids

“I just want you to look at these beautiful children that JD Vance and Usha have, and I want you to remember the Kavanaugh rule. And what the Kavanaugh rule is, is it is a rule that the Supreme Court ruled on that ICE can pull somebody over that quote/unquote ‘looks suspicious.’ An ICE officer could see these little kids and think, ‘Oh, are they from Honduras? Are they from Bolivia? Are they from a shithole country? I think they look suspicious to me.’ So, that is the type of duplicity and homicidal hypocrisy that this administration stands for. These people will not stand up for their own kids.”

— Podcaster Jennifer Welch on the I’ve Had It podcast, July 21.
