MTP Host Kristen Welker Grills Kristi Noem, While She Cues Tim Walz to RIP Trump

December 2nd, 2025 7:58 AM

On Sunday, NBC Meet The Press host Kristen Welker gave a classic example of what makes the mainstream media so hopelessly biased. During her interview with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Welker grilled the Trump official and following up with questions which were often based on answers to the questions she asked. But Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, an extreme lefty, saw no such scrutiny. He went uninterrupted, with zero follow ups, while trashing President Trump in nearly every answer.

During her 14 minutes with Noem, Welker addressed multiple issues related to the shooting of the two National Guardsmen in Washington D.C. and the Afghan National who shot them, including the vetting process and the future of those now in this country, following up almost every Noem answer with another question.

WELKER: I want to follow up with you, you say something very notable, you say he was radicalized here...why did the Trump Administration grant the suspect asylum in April? Did you know then that he was moving toward radicalization?

NOEM: ..Kristen, you need to remember that when this abandonment of Afghanistan happened, the Biden administration put people on airplanes, brought them to the United States without vetting them. They brought them into our country and then said they would vet them afterwards...

WELKER: ..But in terms of what happened on the Trump Administration's watch, just to be very clear, what vetting did the Trump Administration do before giving this suspect asylum?

You get the picture. A thorough grilling, with a focus on attempting to blame Trump, trying to overturn Noem's focus on Biden.

She began her Walz by teeing him up to attack Trump: "President Trump has responded by vowing to crack down on refugees, including from countries beyond Afghanistan, specifically targeting the Somali community in your home state. He also described you using a slur widely regarded as derogatory towards people with intellectual disabilities."

Trump called Walz "seriously retarded." Walz gave an uninterrupted answer for two minutes, which included:

"He's (Trump) normalized this type of hateful behavior and this type of language.. First I think he's not a good human being but secondly to distract from his incompetency.. But again, this is cruelty, this is meanness."

At least Welker asked Walz if he took any responsibility for a billion dollars in fraud from the Somalis in Minnesota. Walz dodged: "Well, certainly, I take responsibility for putting people in jail."

He also accused Trump of demonizing the Somali community. No follow up. Later, she went back to Trump's Thanksgiving Eve post, and Walz's post in response to it.

WELKER: Part of your initial response to President Trump's post was, to call for him to release the results of his MRI, and I want to give you a chance to give our viewers a sense, what were you suggesting by that?

A softball toss if ever there was one, and Walz was ready.

WALZ: Well, here we got a guy on Thanksgiving, where we spent time with our families, we ate, we played Yahtzee, we cheered for football, or whatever. This guy is apparently in a room, ranting about everything else. This is not normal behavior. It is not healthy....So, look, it's clear the president's fading physically. I think the mental capacity, again, ranting, you know, crazily at midnight on Thanksgiving about everything else, there are reasons for us to be concerned....So, I am deeply concerned that he is incapable of doing the job.

Even on a question on Kamala Harris condemning their universal "recklessness" in never questioning Biden's capacity for another four years in office, Walz was allowed to bash Trump.

WALZ: Ageism is a real thing. Ableism is a real thing that we need to be careful of with people. And I think Donald Trump made a cottage industry out of attacking Joe Biden's competency. And it seemed like that got reported a lot. Now, whether that decision should have been made sooner, history will determine that....if that's the case, it should certainly be applied right now to this President, who is putting Americans at risk, (he) is reckless and is not doing what he's asked to do, make life better for the American people.

Welker then turned to a vague question about who's running for president in 2028. That's five questions from Welker to Walz, almost six and a half uninterrupted and unchallenged minutes of answers, loaded with gratuitous shots at President Trump. It was quite different from the consistent hardballs Welker was throwing Noem.

PS: Who is Walz to condemn hateful speech?
