Trying to Incite? Behar Claims GOP Wants Unsafe Skies, No Healthcare

November 6th, 2025 1:40 PM

Thursday was day 37 on the longest government shutdown in American history and, despite speaking about it on The View for weeks, ABC News co-host Joy Behar needed it to be explained to her. Of course, Behar’s takeaway was that the Republican Party wants “compromised” air safety and “does not want you to have your healthcare.” Rhetoric that could incite yet another liberal to kill or attempt to kill another conservative.

Despite participating in conversations on the show about the shutdown multiple times-per-week since before the shutdown even began, Behar apparently needed it to be explained to her like she was five. Of course, the explanation came with some heavily biased spin:

BEHAR: So, let's reiterate for a second because I'm not clear what's going on. For me. So, there's a shutdown because the Republicans don't want to give extended Obamacare, right? It's about --

SUNNY HOSTIN: The subsidies for Obamacare.

BEHAR: They don’t want to do that.

SARA HAINES: They don't want it included in the –

BEHAR: The ultimate reason because they want to get rid of Obamacare altogether even though they don't have a plan. Even Marjorie Taylor Greene said that, right?

HOSTIN: Right.

BEHAR: So, and that will give them money to give tax cuts to people who already have a lot of money.

There was no mention of the fact that the subsidies were from the COVID pandemic era and were supposed to be temporary. She also seemed to be under the false impression that rich people would be directly receiving the money not spent on the subsidies. A false impression she spread to the viewers.

“Because of all that, people's safe in the air is now compromised,” Behar declared. The inciting rhetoric continued as Behar made the pitch that Democrats actually wanted to care for people and the ominous “other side” did not: “The Democrats want you to have safety in the air AND your healthcare, and the other side does not want you to have your healthcare. That's basically what it boils down to.

Behar even seemed to give a call to some sort of action. “And Americans, you should not – I never give speeches. You should not put up with this,” she demanded.

Later in the show, Behar was particularly bent out of shape because President Trump dared to criticize former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) after news of her retirement broke:

He [President Donald trump] writes this: “The retirement of Nancy Pelosi is a great thing for America. She was evil, corrupt, and only focused on bad things for our country.” This is the president of the United States speaking about a colleague whose husband was banged over the head with a hammer by who-knows-who exactly. “And she was rapidly losing control of her party and was never coming back. She's a highly overrated politician.” I mean, it just shows you how threatened he was by her.

While Trump was calling out Pelosi’s corruption, The View took pleasure in Pelosi responding with literally dehumanizing rhetoric. “Yeah, well, she just called him, ‘a vial creature and the worst thing on the face of the Earth.’ So, she gives it right back,” boasted co-host Sunny Hostin.

Behar took offence at Trump criticizing Pelosi because of something that happened to her husband, but they didn’t have an issue saying the heinous things they’ve said about Trump even after he was shot in the head and survived.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Well, those have been signed into law.

BEHAR: Right?

FARAH GRIFFIN: [Inaudible]

BEHAR: Because of all that, people's safe in the air is now compromised.

HOSTIN: Correct.

BEHAR: Okay. Let's be clear what they're trying to do. And they're also trying to blame it all on Democrats, but an NBC poll says 52 percent blame the Republicans. They do not blame the Democrats for this. The Democrats want you to have safety in the air AND your healthcare, and the other side does not want you to have your healthcare. That's basically what it boils down to.

FARAH GRIFFIN: I respectfully disagree.

BEHAR: And Americans, you should not – I never give speeches. You should not put up with this. We are all going places in the air. This girl can't fly? [Points to Farah Griffin] Why? She's got to go someplace. I don't know where is. Where were you going?

FARAH GRIFFIN: She’s going to Florida.
