CBS anchor Katie Couric was roasted Wednesday night in Washington at the Helen Thomas Award dinner of the American News Women's Club. The Washington Post's Reliable Source column relayed Helen Thomas's historical verdict on Couric's Sarah Palin interview:
Helen Thomas wrapped with a bit of political commentary on the Palin interview. "The ballgame was over after that." Couric, she insisted, "saved the country."
McCain-Palin adviser Nicolle Wallace joked that if Palin can see Russia from her house, well, Couric can see New Jersey from hers -- "but that's as close as you media elites get to Jersey."
