NewsBusters Podcast: Will Media Coverage of Trump Sound Like a Rerun?

January 22nd, 2025 10:20 PM

It's a cruel winter for the liberals, and the media are not taking it well. Will coverage of Trump's second term sound like a rerun? Is it possible we're going to be given all the same old spin about Trump being a fascist threat to democracy? At what point will they recognize all of this mudslinging "news" coverage has only undermined their own reputation?

Curtis Houck talks about inauguration coverage and the freakout over Trump's pardons of the January 6 defendants. Which network was the worst? And why is CBS reporter Scott MacFarlane so overwhelmingly committed to reporting anything and everything he can about the Capitol Hill riot?

Then Nick Fondacaro wraps up all the revelations from the CNN defamation trial. The plaintiff wasn't happy with the jury's $5 million in damages -- in part, because that puts a cap on the punitive damages (which were settled secretly). MSNBC is up next, going on trial in April in Georgia for a nasty story accusing a gynecologist working with ICE of being the "uterus collector."

Plus: In the post-inauguration struggle session on The View, fake Republican Ana Navarro compared the black singers who performed at events for Trump to “trained seal[s],” while faux conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin decried Biden for not giving her a preemptive pardon for her tomfoolery with the January 6 Committee. “Biden hung some of us out to dry,” she complained.
