Scott Jennings SCHOOLS CNN Panel on J6 Pardons

January 21st, 2025 12:48 AM

In between live coverage of the signing of executive orders and the various inaugural galas, the cable channels tried to squeeze in some of their usual discussion fare. The outcomes of these went as one would expect.

On the inauguration edition of Laura Coates Live, conservative commentator Scott Jennings quickly brought the panel back down to Earth:

LAURA COATES LIVE: THE INAUGURATION OF DONALD TRUMP

1/20/25

11:15 PM

SCOTT JENNINGS: Look. Donald Trump today, I mean- we spent 99% of our time today, and Democrats spent 99% of their time during the election talking about January 6th. And I would just humbly and respectfully submit to you all that if this is the conversation you intend to have and the script you intend to read for the next four years you are going to continue to get politically punished by the American people who are desperate to look into the future and not continue to wring hands about the past. (CROSSTALK) I’m sorry. That is your reality.

Jennings is correct in the sense that the electorate adjudicated January 6th. The media, in service of the Democrats, spent the last cycle caterwauling about threats to Democracy™, while the Biden White House ran roughshod over democracy in a very real way. And the media didn’t bother to contest such things as the Department of Justice’s harassment of parents challenging school boards on sexual materials, or its persecution of adherents to the Latin Mass. This and many other stories of actual threats to democracy were swept under the rug.

Now that Trump has granted clemency to the J6 defendants, the issue takes front and center at the newly reformed Resistance Media. This despite their reluctance to discuss the last minute pardons granted by President Joe Biden on the way out the door, including to his relatives who were involved in the same influence trafficking schemes that led to Hunter Biden’s indictment. In fact, they were pardoned for the same time period as Hunter. Somehow this doesn’t come up/

The electorate adjudicated the issue of January 6th, and President Trump fulfilled one of his Day One campaign promises. Much to the media’s dismay, Jennings is right.
