MSNBC can’t stop, won’t stop attacking the concept of masculinity. These attacks are renewed yet again in the wake of President Joe Biden’s decision not to seek reelection.

Watch as MSNBC anchor Katy Tur pines for a ticket consisting of Vice President Kamala Harris and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, in order to “push back” against the “machismo” displayed at the just-concluded Republican National Convention:

KATY TUR: I’m curious, what you think of a- of a full female ticket. Of a Harris-Whitmer ticket. Just go big on the Democratic side and push back, specifically, at all that machismo energy that we got out of the RNC. Hulk Hogan on the stage, Donald Trump yelling fight, fight, fight, it’s very- it’s a very masculine ticket over there. What about going with two women?

JOE SCARBOROUGH: It- it’s certainly, it’s a great possibility. And I will tell, you one of those women will win you- one of those women will win you Michigan. Automatically. I mean, you look at- you look at most polls, and Gretchen Whitmer does exceptionally well. And so, I think- I think they have to look at everything. Again, I think the key is here the Democrats can disrupt, to be different and to break the rules. And break the traditional rules and that would be one great way to do it. Anyway, thank you so much for having me.

Joe Scarborough completely avoided the anti-masculinity narrative, delivering instead a word salad centered around Whitmer’s ability to deliver Michigan for the Democratic ticket, and “breaking the rules” before ditching the segment. The part about “breaking the rules” is ironic, given the unprecedented nature of the events currently unfolding before the world.

As we saw during the RNC, the bashing of masculinity is a recurrent theme. Alex Wagner knocked Senator JD Vance for wanting his family to be buried in the familial East Kentucky plot, citing this as an example of “the supremacy of whiteness and masculinity”. Then Joyless Reid cited masculinity as a trait of “black men, brown men who are white-adjacent”

In addition to massive gaslighting about the suppression of the Democratic primary, which led to this juncture, there will be a significant effort to rehabilitate Kamala Harris in the court of public opinion. Additionally, expect endless speculation about what the ticket will look like between now and the convention.
