NBC Ignores Archer Testimony In Favor of Interview with Megan Rapinoe

July 31st, 2023 9:09 PM

On Monday, Hunter Biden’s business partner Devon Archer testified behind closed doors before the House Oversight Committee regarding the Biden family’s corrupt business dealings including a bombshell revelation that Hunter put his father Joe Biden on the phone with his business associates over twenty times. This at the very least proves President Biden’s repeated claims that he was unaware of his son’s business activities was a flat-out lie. Despite this, NBC Nightly News had no interest in this story. While ABC’s World News Tonight and CBS Evening News covered the Archer testimony, NBC pretended it never happened.

Instead, the network ran a nearly two-minute-long segment on the U.S. women’s soccer team and an interview with athlete Megan Rapinoe. Clearly, NBC’s priorities were in order.

ABC’s Aaron Katersky covered the testimony for his network, but it was still full of PR for the Biden crime family.

Speaking to anchor David Muir, Katersky regurgitated New York Democrat Congressman Dan Goldman’s spin: “Archer described the calls involving President Biden as casual, niceties, like the weather. And the White House has long said, David, that President Biden and his son were never in business together.”

Meanwhile, on CBS Evening News, anchor Norah O’Donnell announced: “The Republican-led House Oversight Committee today interviewed Hunter Biden's former business partner Devon Archer about any possible connections to President Biden.” It was later followed by a report by Catherine Herridge.

This bias by omission from NBC Nightly News was made possible by Liberty Mutual. Their information is linked.

DAVID MUIR: Back here in the U.S. tonight, and capitol hill, where House Republicans are investigating the President's son, Hunter Biden. Today, the House Oversight Committee holding a closed-door hearing with Hunter Biden's former business partner and friend, Devon Archer. Let's bring in our senior investigative reporter Aaron Katersky, who’s live in Washington tonight. And Aaron, Hunter Biden's former business partner was asked whether Hunter Biden had ever put his father, of course, the President, on a speakerphone with clients?

AARON KATERSKY: He was asked that, David, and according to lawmakers who were in the room, Devon Archer told them that Hunter Biden would often put his father on the phone during business meetings, apparently to impress clients and associates. Archer answered questions several hours behind closed doors and testifying, according to one lawmaker in the room, that Hunter Biden was, quote, selling the illusion of access to his powerful father, and put him on speakerphone with different people some 20 times. During those calls, Democratic Congressman Dan Goldman said the two never spoke about business, instead, he said, Archer described the calls involving President Biden as casual, niceties, like the weather. And the White House has long said, David, that President Biden and his son were never in business together. David?

MUIR: And to clarify, Aaron, the calls involved Joe Biden when he was not President, this was before the presidency?

KATERSKY: That's right, well before the presidency, even after he was Vice President, out of office, David.

NORAH O’DONNELL: On capitol hill, the Republican-led House Oversight Committee today interviewed Hunter Biden's former business partner Devon Archer about any possible connections to President Biden. CBS’s Catherine Herridge has new details on the hours-long behind-closed-doors testimony.

CATHERINE HERRIDGE: Devon Archer was one of Hunter Biden's closest business associates and served alongside the President’s son on the board of Burisma, a Ukraine energy firm. Both Republicans and Democrats said Archer testified that Hunter Biden put his father on speakerphone around business associates. The Republican committee chairman said Joe Biden was the brand that his son sold around the world to enrich the Biden family. But a senior Democrat who was there today said he did not hear any evidence of wrongdoing by the President.

REP. DAN GOLDMAN: The witness was very, very consistent that none of those conversations ever had to do with any business dealings or transactions. They were purely what he called casual conversation.

HERRIDGE: And the White House went further today saying House Republicans’ own much-hyped witness testified that he never heard of President Biden discussing business with his son or his son's associates, or doing anything wrong.

In a 2019 interview, Hunter Biden said his family name opened doors.

HUNTER BIDEN: I don't think that there’s a lot of things that would have happened in my life that if my last name wasn’t Biden.

HERRIDGE: The final transcript of Archer’s interview should help clarify these issues, but it won’t be publicly released, a Republican committee aide told CBS News until it has gone through a formal review process, and that could take weeks, Norah.
