As the reporting from New York Post journalist and MRC Bulldog Award winner Miranda Devine had exposed last Sunday, there seemed to be strong evidence that then-Vice President Joe Biden was deeply involved with his son Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings. But on Thursday, Alyssa Farah Griffin, the faux conservative of ABC’s The View, refused to take in any of that evidence while simultaneously demanding that House Republicans “put up or shut up” as she opposed impeaching Biden.
Farah Griffin made sure to let the audience know that “I stand by those remarks” from Wednesday where she gave a full-throated defense of President Biden and argued that he should not be impeached. “I got just dragged by the right-wing yesterday for saying ‘there is no reason to impeach Joe Biden,’” she whined.
Despite the evidence already out there, which was fueling the calls for an impeachment inquiry, Farah Griffin demanded someone present it to her, or as she put it “put up or shut up”:
If someone can come forward and say, ‘Here is the evidence that Joe Biden somehow profited off of Hunter Biden's misgivings,’ 100 percent. I have not seen that. And my advice to House Republicans is: put up or shut up on this. Make it abundantly clear where a Democrat can't even look away because they see corruption there.
But throughout the segment, she admitted Hunter Biden was engaged in shady and possibly illegal behavior. “Here's my thing with Hunter Biden. I do think there's probably corruption. I do think he traded off his name,” she said.
Her issue was that Republicans were daring to talk about it and investigate it. “But to my friends in the GOP, we can't make this our whole personality,” she huffed.
Why shouldn’t the GOP talk about the possible corruption of what many had dubbed “the Biden Crime Family?” According to her logic, because Trump (Click “expand”):
Like, we have a guy running for president who’s likely to be the nominee who’s likely going to be thrice indicted. How are you going to argue the actions of the President's son who is not elected, he’s not appointed to office is somehow more important?
I agree with Richard Hudson, head of the National Republican Congressional Committee who is like, talk about the economy, talk about border security, talk about jobs. This is not the focus that we need to be making.
Farah Griffin’s entire argument was an exercise in hypocrisy and talking out of both sides of her mouth. As noted above, she wanted evidence so strong that Democrats couldn’t look away, yet that’s exactly what she was doing.
She explained to her liberal co-host that “there was an IRS whistleblower who came forward” and “raised flags about [Hunter’s] taxes within the IRS and was basically swept aside” by federal prosecutors. She went on to say “There is something there worth investigating” and “I'm for him being thoroughly investigated,” but she didn’t want it to be Congress (the check on the Executive Branch).
According to her, a congressional investigation was “a waste of taxpayer dollars” and insisted the “Department of Justice do it,” despite accusations of DOJ meddling in the first IRS investigation. “I don't mind a special counsel either,” she quickly added.
Farah Griffin claimed she did not “support Joe Biden” and was “not voting for him.” But as NewsBusters previously reported, she was very eager to find a Democrat to back for president on the show.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: So, yesterday what happened in court was kind of remarkable. Basically, Hunter Biden and his attorneys showed up and said that the deal was not what he and his attorneys thought it was. They were under the impression it was so sweeping that it would basically cover future investigation, for example, if he was prosecuted under FARA, the foreign, you know, if you’re basically doing foreign dealings, and that wasn't the case. This was specifically narrowly tailored to his tax crimes that he's pled guilty to. Now, all that I'm surprised the attorneys didn't have it straight.
Here's my thing with Hunter Biden. I do think there's probably corruption. I do think he traded off his name. But to my friends in the GOP, we can't make this our whole personality.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Too late.
FARAH GRIFFIN: Like, we have a guy running for president who’s likely to be the nominee who’s likely going to be thrice indicted. How are you going to argue the actions of the President's son who is not elected, he’s not appointed to office is somehow more important?

SARA HAINES: But those whistleblowers were saying there's more there. So, why
[Crosstalk]
GOLDBERG: They've been saying that.
HAINES: What I’m saying is, if there was more I would want to know.
GOLDBERG: It's seven years, come on!
RACHEL LINDSEY: It’s not going to stop!
BEHAR: That’s enough, I'm not voting for him. He's not running for anything.
FARAH GRIFFIN: There was an IRS whistleblower who came forward, a registered Democrat who basically said that, he, at times, raised flags about his taxes within the IRS and was basically swept aside. He did challenge David Weiss, who I would mention is a Trump-appointed prosecutor in this.
There is something there worth investigating. I'm for him being thoroughly investigated. Does not need to be in Congress. That is a waste of taxpayer dollars. Let the Department of Justice do it. I don't mind a special counsel either.

FARAH GRIFFIN: So, there's been a bit of a push with Republicans in the House – we talked about this yesterday – wanting to impeach Biden because of the Hunter Biden investigation. I got just dragged by the right-wing yesterday for saying ‘there is no reason to impeach Joe Biden’ and I stand by those remarks.
And I’ve not seen that. And by the way, I don’t support Joe Biden. I’m not voting for him, but he shouldn't be impeached.
