YouTube has declared war on anyone who dares to push back against the left’s radicalized gender ideology on its platform.
The Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing slammed YouTube’s assault against his news network’s popular lineup of podcast hosts in a fired-up Twitter thread on Sunday. Boreing accused YouTube of censorship over the allegation that his outfit’s content, spanning through the accounts of Hosts Candance Owens, Michael Knowles and Jordan B. Peterson, violated the anti-free speech platform’s “Hateful and Derogatory” content policies over their content related to the "transgender" issue. Boreing wrote that “@realDailyWire has received ~200 violations from @YouTube,” resulting in “limited monetization” and full-blown censorship of the network’s popular hosts.
YouTube’s censorship campaign against The Daily Wire hosts came after it first demonetized the account of What is a Woman? Director Matt Walsh, who also hosts The Daily Wire’s The Matt Walsh Show. Boreing declared that the anti-free speech assault came as a consequence of his outlet’s coverage of the left’s “transgender” agenda. YouTube then sentenced the channels of Owens and Knowles — both of whom host popular shows for The Daily Wire — to a seven day ban for not following suit to the leftist ideology.
In an email sent to MRC Free Speech America on Monday, YouTube confirmed the censorship, claiming, “We removed content from the Candace Owens Podcast channel and issued a strike for violating our hate speech and harassment policies, which apply equally to all creators on our platform. As a result of these actions, the channel is temporarily suspended from uploading content to YouTube for one week.” MRC Free Speech America received a similar email confirming the censorship of the Knowles account.
In response to the seven-day bans, Boreing blasted YouTube for limiting The Daily Wire’s reach in a subsequent tweet. “Over 25% of the US population gets its news from @YouTube, and The Daily Wire is one of the largest news brands in the space,” Boreing added. “Last week, our accounts had over 157M views on @YouTube. That’s over 20M views a day. Yet we are on the verge of losing access to the platform.”
Owens echoed Boreing’s sentiments in a lengthy statement on Sunday, writing in a tweet, “We don’t know exactly what or who is the driving force behind globally-sanctioned lies, but what we do know is that over the past five years, the prevailing lies of the day have shifted dramatically.” Owens also blasted Big Tech for censoring content related to COVID-19 and for running cover to the Marxist-inspired Black Lives Matter Movement. “[I]n the end, truth wins,” the popular host concluded.
