Quick, what is Minnesota’s state bird? If you said “loon,” you nailed it. Some of those loons are not the feathered kind, but those of the robed variety. As in members of a Ramsey County district court that ruled USA Powerlifting violated the human rights of a man seeking to compete in the women’s division.
Equally loony? The state legislature, which created the Minnesota Human Rights Act, which is a get-out-of-male card allowing people to compete in any division they want to. Most notably, it prevents the ability of women to compete on a level playing field of sports without the intrusion of stronger males.
Feathers flew when the hulking JayCee Cooper received a letter from USA Powerlifting barring him from competing as a woman. The letter stated “male-to-female transgender people are not allowed to compete as females in our static strength sport as it is a direct competitive advantage.” USA Powerlifting was the only sensible party in what shouldn’t even have been an issue for dispute.
But these are uncommon, wacky times in which the loony types are ruining sports for more and more women. Courtesy of the gender-bending goofballs in the state legislature, Cooper filed a lawsuit claiming USA Powerlifting had violated the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
Instead of overturning a ridiculous human rights act, District Court Judge Patrick Diamond went with this ruse. He declared USA Powerlifting guilty of discrimination and Cooper eligible to make a mockery of a women’s sport. Liberal Dem loon Gov. Mark Dayton had appointed Diamond to the court 11 years ago. In his ruling, Judge Diamond wrote:
By denying Cooper the right to participate in the female category, the category consistent with her self-identification, USAPL denied her the full and equal enjoyment of the services, support, and facilities USAPL offered its members. It separated Cooper and segregated her and, in doing so, failed to fully perform the contractual obligations it agreed to when it accepted Cooper’s money and issued Cooper a membership card.
Cooper played the victim card … let’s just say … in girly-man fashion, blathering on about how trans athletes deserve the same rights and protections as everyone else to compete in the sport they love. He jumped through every hoop and cleared every hurdle to be able to compete in USA Powerlifting’s women’s competition.
Except the most obvious and glaring hoop: Cooper is a certified he-man with male chromosomes.
Not only does USA Powerlifting have to welcome Cooper with open arms into the women’s field, it must also revise its policy on trans athletes, the over-stepping judge ruled. This must happen within 14 days of the ruling. Judge Diamond will also announce possible damages to be awarded to Cooper on May 1.
An LGBTQABCD group, Gender Justice, crowed about this being a “historic” victory, but USA Powerlifting spoke truth to the injustice exacted on women by Minnesota:
Men naturally have a larger bone structure, higher bone density, stronger connective tissue, and higher muscle density than women. These traits, even with reduced levels of testosterone do not go away. While [male-to-female athletes] may be weaker and less muscle than they once were, the biological benefits given them at birth still remain over that of a female.
Such common sense thinking is above the pay grade of woke policy setters in the state of loons.
