The leftist media’s smears against Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker continued this week as MSNBC’s All In host Chris Hayes, and Bulwark editor Tim Miller decided Thursday to accuse him of being mentally unfit for office. While much of the media this week spent considerable airtime accusing Walker of being a hypocrite for opposing abortion while allegedly paying for a woman’s abortion over a decade ago, Hayes and Miller took the nasty partisan attacks a step forward.
Hayes kicked it off during the segment discussing the uncorroborated Daily Beast story which claimed Walker paid for a woman’s abortion. “The whole thing, when you step back, is so ludicrous,” Hayes claimed.
Letting his elitism show, he lectured Georgians about Walker’s candidacy: “there's just no reason for him to be a U.S. Senator,” Hayes preached. Since when is Hayes in charge of deciding who should and should not be in the United States Senate?
Hayes then argued that there are “thousands of people in the state of Georgia across the ideological spectrum, across lines of race and class, whatever, who you could pull out of a hat to be the Senate nominee that aren't Herschel Walker.”
One would also argue that if Republicans dropped support for Walker tomorrow and somehow picked another candidate, Hayes would find something about the new candidate to cry about.
Ending his rant, Hayes claimed that Walker is only the Republican nominee “because as the Lieutenant Governor said, he was a famous football player and Donald Trump was his friend.”
Then it was Miller’s turn who somehow managed to be even more patronizing than Hayes.
“Everyone just wanted to go along with what Donald Trump wanted and they should have to pay the piper,” Miller said vindictively.
“Herschel Walker should be spending time in therapy, not running for Senate,” Miller sneered.
Continuing to attack Walker, Miller proclaimed that he “got pushed into this by Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell. You can’t let Mitch McConnell off the hook. And the other Republican leaders who didn't want to have a real primary fight.”
He then conveniently predicted that Walker will lose in November: “I don't think it should be surprising that the very same voters that said no to Donald Trump in Georgia in 2020 are looking at this and saying, come on, guys, give me a break.”
Paying for a woman’s abortion (if that’s actually what Walker did), is obviously wrong. But as CNN political analyst Scott Jennings noted on Wednesday, while the worst case scenario is that Walker did pay for an abortion, “Raphael Warnock wants to pay for all of them, and up to the moment of birth.”
Sometimes elections are a choice between the lesser of two evils.

8:13:05 p.m. EasternCHRIS HAYES: Yeah, to your point, Tim, too that line about fundamentally insane, I've tried to find the words that describe this. The whole thing, when you step back, is so ludicrous. I bear Herschel Walker no personal animus. He seems like someone whose faith is extremely genuine and has had troubles and does feel like he's come around. There's just no reason for him to be a U.S. Senator. I mean there's thousands and thousands of people in the state of Georgia across the ideological spectrum, across lines of race and class, whatever, who you could pull out of a hat to be the Senate nominee that aren't Herschel Walker, who is literally just there because as the Lieutenant Governor said, he was a famous football player and Donald Trump was his friend. Part of that is like at a certain point, you might have to pay the piper for that.
TIM MILLER: And they should pay the piper. That Lieutenant Governor, Jeff Duncan, who did the right thing during Donald Trump's attempt to steal the last election has been cast aside because of the GOP cult. Everyone just wanted to go along with what Donald Trump wanted and they should have to pay the piper and yes Herschel Walker should be spending time in therapy, not running for Senate. I have to feel kind of bad for his family, right? His son is a far-right MAGA TikTok influencer. That is who is speaking out. It's not a Ron Reagan Jr. liberal kid situation.
They went on Fox News together to argue for stop the steal back in December of 2020. And so you have to feel bad for this family. Herschel Walker revealing secret kids, that MAGA son is learning about secret siblings he didn’t know. No wonder he’s mad. No wonder he's angry at his father. He got pushed into this by Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell. You can’t let Mitch McConnell off the hook. And the other Republican leaders who didn't want to have a real primary fight. And so I don't think it should be surprising that the very same voters that said no to Donald Trump in Georgia in 2020 are looking at this and saying, come on, guys, give me a break.
