ESPN left-winger extraordinaire Stephen A. Smith pulled a real shocker during his new podcast, Know Mercy With Stephen A. Smith, this week. He gave the Clintons no mercy whatsoever for their history of mistreating women. Surprisingly, he cited them and their political power as proof of how powerful people can trample all over women and not be held to standards of decency.
The surprising comments by Smith came in response to controversy over the Boston Celtics’ suspending Coach Ime Udoka for a year over his relationship with a team employee. Boston revealed he had an improper and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff, violating the organization’s code of conduct. The subject has created a media frenzy, and Smith took it in an unlikely direction on his podcast.
The Udoka story prompted Smith to raise the issue of how former President Bill Clinton has gotten a free pass despite his years of womanizing. He had sexual relations with intern Monica Lewinsky in the oval office and lied about it. During a conversation in the White House with Kathleen Willey, he kissed her, fondled her breasts and touched her genitals.
Juanita Broaddrick accused Clinton of raping her in 1978 during his gubernatorial campaign visit to a nursing home where she worked as a nurse. The left-stream media yawned over that.
“Last time I checked the Clinton’s are doing just fine,” Smith said in opposition to the left’s double standard in how the Clintons escape criticism. “Hillary ran for office, not once but twice. Bill Clinton was giving speeches at the Democratic National Convention. Even though he got impeached and lost his law license for a few years.”
Lewinsky has long been out of sight and out of mind, despite last yea's HBO documentary, 15 Minutes of Shame. She was canceled so that a pro-abortion president could survive scandal.
“What the hell ever happened to Monica Lewinsky?” Smith asked. “The relationship was consensual after all, but when it was revealed Bill Clinton remained president. Even though he was impeached. Since then he’s gone on to become a noted public speaker.”
After Clinton breezed past the Lewinsky scandal, she was left to pick up the pieces of her life, Smith noted. No one seems to care about her documentary, which didn’t resonate with the public or attract great viewership.
Hillary Clinton, the supposed champion of women’s rights, threatened, smeared and targeted women who claimed her husband had abused them. She served in the U.S. Senate, as secretary of state and won the Democratic nomination for president in 2016. All despite email and private server scandals, for which she escaped prosecution.
What are the odds that an ardent lefty like Stephen A. Smith would use the Clintons, darlings of the Democratic Party, to make a point about an NBA scandal? Until today, I would have said “no chance.” Kudos to him for standing up in the crowd to point a well-deserved finger at the Clintons.
