San Fran Nan’s been tone deaf for a while, now she might be actually deaf too.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) graced New York with her presence this weekend at the Global Citizen concert held at Central Park. Pelosi was booed on stage, New York Post reported (yes, it’s OK to laugh).
In a now viral video, Pelosi received a not so warm welcome when she was invited to join the stage by actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Nick Jonas’ wife). Pelosi walked on stage in her iconic white pants suit to talk about climate change and cutting carbon emissions.
“As speaker of the House, I am here to thank you for your dazzling advocacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and determination as global citizens,” she began.
The audience erupted but not how you may think. While some cheered for Pelosi, there was an overwhelming majority of booing and heckling from the crowd.
Nonetheless, Pelosi continued.
It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer. It will slash carbon pollution by 40% by 2030, it will give a historic, an historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis.
I wonder how much carbon pollution was created as a result of the private jet that inevitably got Pelosi to the NY stage.
During her uncalled for speech, Pelosi also gave a shout-out to her grand children who were in the audience. She claimed that she told them that she’d keep her comments to a minimum as to not disturb the show.
Hate to break it to you Nancy, but that ship sailed when you walked on stage.
In her presentation, Pelosi also called for “better water and air for our children" and "better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents."
Despite the less-than-pleasing response from the audience, Global Citizen Tweeted a note of gratitude to Pelosi.
Thank you, @SpeakerPelosi for recognizing Global Citizens all around the world who took action in support of the new, historic climate legislation in the US!

Pelosi’s attendance was awkward and far from welcomed, even at a progressive leaning event.
The Global Citizen has been putting on concerts of this sort for ten-years in an attempt to end poverty and this isn’t the first time it praised Pelosi. Last year the concert included a video message from Pelosi about environmental causes and in 2016, Pelosi preached about the importance of voting.
I’m curious if Pelosi will be welcomed back in 2023 given the audience response to this year’s promotion of her.
Perhaps young people are noticing that Pelosi and the Biden Administration are on an outrageous and unnecessary spending crusade (on all the wrong things) or maybe they just didn't what their concert interrupted.
