Nets SEETHE Over ‘Inhumane’ DeSantis Playing ‘Politics’ With Illegal Immigrants

September 15th, 2022 1:25 PM

On Thursday, CBS Mornings and NBC’s Today were nearly apoplectic over Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) sending two flights of illegal immigrants Wednesday to the rich, white, and liberal Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, calling it “inhumane” behavior “us[ing]” so-called “migrants” to play “politics” and overwhelm such a “great, great place.”

“Migrants are flown to Martha's Vineyard not knowing where they are. How they wound up being used for politics,” fretted CBS Mornings co-host Nate Burleson.

Socialist and fellow co-host Tony Dokoupil said DeSantis caused “an escalation in the political fight over immigration” by sending “[d]ozens of apparent migrants” to Martha’s Vineyard, which he attempted to paint like an East Coast Alcatraz by calling it “a rocky island in the Atlantic.”

CBS Boston reporter Nick Giovanni said “[v]olunteers on Martha's Vineyard found themselves scrambling to find shelter, food, water, and other services to accompany the unforeseen arrival of 50 migrants, including elderly and children, flown there as part of a relocation plan organized by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.”

Giovanni explained that, upon deplaning, the illegal aliens “wandered some three miles from the airport into Edgartown” where volunteers “fed and later transported” them “by school bus to a church to stay for the night.”

For their part, Team DeSantis spokesman Taryn Fenske said the governor wanted to make sure illegal immigrants were sent to places like “Massachusetts, New York, and California” to “better facilitate the care of these individuals who they are invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as sanctuary states.”

“Since the spring, Republican governors in Texas and Arizona have transported several thousand migrants and asylum seekers to New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., all cities with Democratic mayors,” Giovanni added.

Back at the table, Dokoupil lamented that the island of his fellow leftists had a population “of 15,000 people, without an ICE court, without an infrastructure that can handle an influx like this, without social services in place.”

Co-host, Democratic Party donor, and Obama family friend Gayle King whined that she concurred with local Democrats:

I thought the word inhumane was a good — good one to use in this case. When people don't know where they're going, the people that are there don't know you're coming. It's good to see, though, that they're being welcomed and that people are trying to help them.

Further illustrating her elitism and disconnect from real America, King boasted that she had “been in Martha's Vineyard many times” and “[i]t's a great, great place, but [DeSantis should have] at least give[n] notice so they can prepare.”

NBC’s Today wasn’t any better. Co-host Hoda Kotb griped in a tease of DeSantis’s “controversial moving...send[ing] planes filled with migrants to Martha’s Vineyard.”

Co-host Savannah Guthrie said her piece, describing it as a “dramatic and controversial twist in the battle over immigration”

Back in Florida, correspondent Kerry Sanders called the flights “an escalation by Republican governors upset with President Biden’s immigration and border policies.”

What policies, you ask? Of course, Sanders wouldn’t share how the border has remained purposefully open and porous.

To top it all off, Sanders passed along what would be seen as racist rhetoric if it were uttered by conservatives: “[L]ocal officials....did have to scramble to provide some humanitarian aid...and they liken it to responding to a natural disaster.”

ABC’s Good Morning America also covered the flights, but only had a 15-second news brief via co-host and former Clinton official George Stephanopoulos:

Also breaking overnight, in the battle over the surge of migration at the southern border, Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis flew dozens of migrants to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Local government officials claim they had no advance notice. The migrants spent the night in beds at this local church after receiving food at a school cafeteria.

This meltdown over the existence of Governor DeSantis and his move to ensure rich, white liberals realize the cost of their open border views was made possible thanks to the endorsement of advertisers such as Geico (on ABC), Neutrogena (on CBS), and Progressive (on NBC).
