DeSantis Derangement Syndrome took hold of anchor Juan Carlos Lopez, from CNN En Español Directo USA, as he called out the Florida governor for his 'authoritarian style of government' – and for being an alleged Donald Trump copycat – for ending Disney's special governance and tax status privileges.
The authoritarian label came during a report by Jose Manuel Rodriguez on DeSantis's 'war' against Disney that, as the report clearly mentioned further on, threatened DeSantis with fighting against the Parental Rights in Education Act, in defense of the LGBTQ community. Oddly, the four minute-plus report did not once mention the well-being of children or the true nature of the Parental Rights in Education Act.
There was, however, ample time for Lopez to talk about DeSantis:
JUAN CARLOS LOPEZ: From Washington we go to Florida. We are joined there by José Manuel Rodríguez with a new fight from the Republican governor of that state, Ron DeSantis, who one might say is perhaps the main imitator of former President Donald Trump. Now the fight is on with the multinational Disney, one of the most important economic engines of that state. And why did he declare war on Disney? For criticizing a law that he put forward.
JOSE MANUEL RODRIGUEZ: DeSantis, Juan Carlos, is in campaign mode, he wants to (win reelection) as governor and also be the alternative to Donald Trump in the 2024 primaries, and perhaps this conservative political agenda points in that direction Juan Carlos.
LÓPEZ: And quite an authoritarian style of government, that of Governor DeSantis; he cannot be criticized. There’s hardly any other governor in the United States that would seek to sanction the company that creates the most jobs and greatest resources for his state, over its criticism of a law. But it is very possible that even if the Republican majority advances these measures to remove the benefits Disney enjoys, they would have no legal way to do so. The CNNEE report also called the governor 'quite An Authoritarian' over the state's redistricting efforts. According to Rodríguez, "Gov. DeSantis recently hired a Republican redistricting expert. Florida law is clear and says the new electoral map should not be drawn based on electoral or political considerations. The map creates 20 new Republican districts, and only eight Democrats. And also, eliminates two Democratic districts in Orlando, in North Florida, which currently have black representatives. Democrats call DeSantis' plan racist and threaten to settle this issue, of course, in court."
The reason for DeSantis treachery? Take note, as per CNNEE: "DeSantis, Juan Carlos, is in campaign mode, he wants to (win reelection) as governor and also be the alternative to Donald Trump in the 2024 primaries, and perhaps this conservative political agenda points in that direction."

Let's go to José Manuel Rodríguez. José Manuel, the state assembly had been convened to talk about the electoral map, but they are also focusing on the issue of Disney.
JOSÉ MANUEL RODRÍGUEZ: Juan Carlos, pleased to greet you. The controversies continue because the governor of Florida Ron DeSantis, seems determined and has already done so, to take away the special government status that Disney has in Orlando, for its theme parks. In fact, this Wednesday he approved this initiative, the governor's, in the state Senate, and the same is expected to happen in the House of Representatives where of course, the Republicans enjoy a very large majority. For their part, Democrats accuse Republicans of retribution because Disney questioned the law popularly called "Don't Say Gay", which prohibits teachers from talking about sexual orientation, identity, gender in classrooms. But Disney has been questioning the law for a few weeks, and says it should be abolished and pledged to support national organizations for that purpose. State Rep. Jackie Toledo, of Tampa, says Disney was a great partner for the state of Florida. We gave them privileges with our common history, and with our shared goals. Shamelessly, Disney betrayed us, this representative said. The legal agreement made by the government, which Disney received in the year 68, and which enable it to grow, is on the verge of being, let's say, finished and would have an impact, precisely on this company and in Florida, where Disney contributes millions of resources to the state of Florida, and is the main employer. Rep. Dotie Joseph of Miami has said that taking away this special treatment from Disney for criticizing an agenda, she says is radical-like the governor´s- is something that Juan Carlos countries like Russia and China, do. The economic impact of the measure is not immediately clear, and Disney hasn´t commented on it.
But speaking of controversies, that's what today's topic is about, there is another one in the United States, and that is that there are experts in states that reevaluate electoral districts so that they are much more consistent with the new demographic reality. And this sometimes ends up being settled in the courts. Gov. DeSantis recently hired a Republican redistricting expert. Florida law is clear and says the new electoral map should not be drawn based on electoral or political considerations. The map creates 20 new Republican districts, and only eight Democrats. And also, eliminates two Democratic districts in Orlando, in North Florida, which currently have black representatives. Democrats call DeSantis' plan racist and threaten to settle this issue, of course, in court. However, it will not be a federal court but a state court because the Republicans have managed to ensure that this issue does not reach the highest court of the country. The plan of the electoral effect of the country was approved on the conditions of the chamber, of the senate, and today, the plenary of the senate approved it a matter of a few hours ago.
